Mike is a great bassist. He may not be the most showy player but he plays exactly what the song needs and adds little bits here and there that just compliment it. Amazingly solid
This bassline in particular makes you forget how repetitive it is, because as soon as the little lick is done, your brain craves it again. It's like chain smoking bass lines :) It's kinda like the axe in Know Your Enemy.
@@chiefkenwab9897 Whether someone likes Green Day's music or not there's no denying that they're great live performers. I'd say they're about on-par with Face To Face, although I've never seen either one live. That's a compliment, because Scott Shiflett is a truly great musician & showman.
+Gaenico it's difficult for me to decide. I like pre American idiot because it's a lot more "tuney" especially warning. Dookie is really grungy and reminds me of nirvana kinda. Then American idiot kinda goes back to Dookie being grungy, but a lot more pop punk which I like. I like that style a lot but Idk they switched around their music style so much it's hard for me to decide.
Aside from this song and Minority, it took me 16 years to start liking the album Warning. haha. I'm just starting to come around to American Idiot and even 21st Century now.
+Elia Lopez Incredibly upbeat bass line, simple lick and yet so melodic... I've watched this vid far too many times to follow it all the way through much anymore, I just load it up and skip right to the bass solo :)
@@rebeccaellsbury73 was one of the best. 21st century breakdown tour. Saw them in Hamilton, Toronto and Montreal. The Montreal show was the best. 3+ hours and they played songs I'd never heard them play before.
jeroliver awesome! Yeah they’re the best live band by far in my opinion. I need to see them live. Billy always ends with time of your life at every concert I hear
I listened to this song for the first time when I was on a cruise in Mexico I was going for a walk and the song was so good that I didn't even look out at the pretty dolphins and fish around there. XD
Billie Joe Armstrong (Oakland, California; 17 de febrero de 1972) es un cantante, compositor, músico, productor discográfico, y actor estadounidense. 52 AÑOS. 🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤
damn that tone killer not just Mike's but Billie's too. I don't what the settings/set up was back then but they need to go back to it. More recently imo the mids are to low in the guitar mix.
I think the opposite. The mids are way more prominent nowadays. Back here, I saw screenshots of the American Idiot/Warning era settings for the Marshalls, he had them around 4, now its about 6, as of the 2013 tour, no idea of 2016 though. It might be because back here Billie's way cranked in the mix cause he's the only guitar.
The first time I watched this Live video on RU-vid was the second grade of junior high school. I appreciate We can have been enjoyed watching and listening this live still now.
This band writes the best lyrics ever. Catchy, meaningful, and poetic. Billie Joe you are my musical hero and inspiration to make and write music on guitar and also write my own lyrics.
I love this song, especially in this live version. The bass sounds just awesome, thanks to billie that he talked so much so i was able to enjoy it a bit longer, lol =) Anyway, great song, great band, what should i say more?
i wish i could've been there all the times these 3 were hanging out, Al Sobrante/John Kiffmeyer too. green day forever, no matter what. i hope they never split up, i will always be listening to them
listened to this stuff back when i was 13, then didn't listen to green day all through highschool, take one semester off before college and get stoned the entire fucking time, and here i am
"The fact was we got to a point that we were so big that tons of people were showing up at punk-rock clubs, and some clubs were even getting shut down because too many were showing up. We had to make a decision: either break up or remove ourselves from that element. And I'll be damned if I was going to flip fucking burgers. I do what I do best. Selling out is compromising your musical intention and I don't even know how to do that." - Mike Dirnt; Argue with that bitches
There are two girls there in the front-center of the frame, so I can just assume you're talking about the cute one (lefty), since that's how it works...
@zoetherebel cool!! i also love greenday music.and to be honest im not getting tired of listening to there music over and over again!! yeahhhhhhhh GREENDAY SONGS ROCKS!!
It's interesting to me that people think Green Day sold out. The quote that @tiki2777 made is a pretty fair argument. Green Day never "sold out", they just got too big for the box people were trying to fit them in. Also, what do you expect for a band to do after over 20 years? Play and make the same music over and over again? No! Green Day has grown and developed a sound, and will continue to develop sounds as long as they're a band. I've been a fan for 10 years, I see no problem here.
This has to be either 1998 or 1999.. I can tell... man look how different things were... real music... an audience that looks truly into... because they actually like the music... what the hell is happening... maybe this will be like the 80's ... where things take a turn sometime in the future.
