This has potential man! With the customisable difficulty, just needs a little frame rate patch. Nothings gonna stop the tribesmen looking like Shadow Man on N64 though...that ship has sailed.. Great vid matey x
It does, the difficulty settings mean it's playable by anyone, you can turn damage and nutrients degrade off and just play about building and foraging if you want which is great. Haha let's see how the remaster looks when it's out.
I really want to buy this game in Australia, it is proving difficult Australia has too many laws regarding censorship and cost the producers too much for a dumb classification that doesn't mean anything but money for the government.
Yea any user account from any region can play the game, you can only re-download it from that account though and I don't know if each region has its own version of the download with the censorship built in
Thanks Palalu, I played a little of Thr Forest but got lost in some caves and killed by some creature lol. Its a pretty challenging game so good luck 😊
I think I was playing it on ps4 prior to starting the channel but likely had a ton of other stuff I was playing too, will definitely give it a go if It comes to switch.
@@SwitchStars best place to play the Forest is on PC, I even use a controller on PC, no Motion blur, normal FOV, not all wack like the PS4 version. Much smoother and enjoyable experience.
Yea if youre wanting graphics and performance, it's playable on Switch you just get use to it after a while but the inventory management is still one of the worst aspects on console.
The game looks like The Forest. I'm happy I found your review for other reasons though. I'd be pretty interested in playing it, but the parasitic worms would mess with me. Hell, I have issues in traveling around the swamp biome of Valheim because of those gigantic leeches, to such a degree that in every run, a majority of my time in that biome is focused on building a Wookie like tree village/biome spanning bridge.
Yea it's similar though I'd say the survival mechanics are a little more hardcore. The worms and other nasty things are a bit creepy but you can turn stuff like that off in survival mode.
@@SwitchStars crap. It's on sale and I'm broke lol. I'm glad they allow us to disable that stuff. Imo, there's a point of realism that ya really don't have to go to in games.
i have it on the Switch and love it, I think it looks amazing, took some time to get used to the controls but other than that awesome ..... part for that there are NO bananas at all, I can't find any I been all over the only i find are some at a camp that are spoiled, a lot of people have been saying they have the same thing, I'm really hoping this is just a bug and they will fix it soon, it's hard to stay alive with out them,
Amazing for the Switch, not in comparison to the game on other consoles or pc 😂 I didn't even notice no bananas, I found plenty of tubas and nuts to eat though, I found a really good spot north east of the bamboo forest with a little cave and water next to it.
@@SwitchStars I've only played it on the Switch, but I know it would look away better on the PC or PS4 but I like my Switch ehehe, I'm on Anaconda Island, I thought my best bet was to go there, with it already having a Bed and shelter, on the way I found some, Guanabana fruit and the Orange Unknow fruit which I have planted in planters, right now I'm living of them, fish and some Brazil nuts, as well as can food and snacks in the bags, from what I've seen unless I just missed them on my first look around, they respawn, but I only eat them if I really need to.
Hi,friend. Have the developers fixed this error? Is everything in the game now the same as on the PC,except for the graphics? Or is there something else missing from the technical side? I will be grateful for the answer.
I am not sure Friezy, I don't believe everything is the same as the PC version, amongst other things there is no multiplayer and the spirits of amazonian is not yet out on Switch
Yea I only played Ark on Xbox but it wasnt great there and I hear Switch was worse, its a different type of survival game tbh, more granular and hardcore survival mechanics, its still playable, just framerate isn't the most stable so it depends what you're willing to put up with Dan.
Yea the more you play it the more you get use to its visuals and control scheme, I found the dragging and dropping to be the games worst aspect tbh, it's just so damn slow. The auto sort is good except when try to pick up up planks of wood as they can only be stored vertically and you have to manually rearrange your inventory to fit them in. Hopefully some good patches coming soon, I was playing it again quite a bit recently, the map is much bigger than I first thought, managed to make my way to the airport.
@@SwitchStars manually sorting my inventory isnt a big deal for me. I played unturned a lot and thats how the inventory is, and if i really feel the need i could just go in the system settings and change the button layout so it works better (this is an official update to the switch so anyone can do this, and i might do it for theif simulator too)
I bought this game on pc when I first saw it it was in early access as soon as it came to early access I grabbed it. I'm so excited to see it coming to the switch. Ik definitely going to be grabbing it again on my switch
Yea it's a little different on the switch Jenna, just don't go in expecting the visual quality and there are a few things missing from it atm, still good fun though.
I got it for 3Eur on sale, and I must say even at this value I feel ripped off. The game's controls are so horrid, with a combo of awful cursor thumbstick scheme just thrown in there with no actual consideration of quality and the choppy framerate which makes you take literal game hours to simply place a piece of meat onto a fire - because the day is about 15-20 minutes long and you'll take a few of those minutes struggling with the crappy controls. Bottom line, the game on pc is about 8/10 in my opinion, but on the switch is pretty much unplayable, it doesn't belong on this platform.
I don't really know what you're talking about Micky... of course the story mode tells you what to do and you have to follow the objectives there, but you can play survival mode and you just do what you want???
@@SwitchStars I've had it for a week now and played every day. It's very good, but wow is it tough. I've made second came but spending most of my time just getting through the day. I wonder if you got more reviews in the last couple of weeks since it was on sale. Do more people watch reviews when a game is on sale?
Haha it is tough but not so bad when you find a good spot to set up camp. Yea usually I get a spike in views when games go on sale, that's how I know they are lol
@@rushakgaming9732 I think so, my guess is that on a pc you have a keyboard and mouse and that makes selecting items and moving between menus much easier. It's tricky on the Switch to do that. It takes quite a white to select anything. I find a lot of my days on the island are spent going between menus. Perhaps they should freeze the clock when you do that on the Switch.
What I want to know is why does this game go one sale for 2 dollars or so yet on PlayStation and Xbox the cheapest I’ve seen it is 17. Like what in the green hell is that all about? Lol
I have no idea tbh, maybe because the Switch version as struggled to sell as much due to the performance? It's pretty surprising for a Switch title though.
You play much of it Klingon? After getting over its hardcore approach compared with The Survivalists I played prior to it, I actually had a good time playing, I'm just hoping its framerate gets a bit of a fix.
I just bought this game physically from Forever Limited. I didn’t know much about it but the concept sounded really cool. This was a really good review and I’m excited for it to come in
@@isquirtmilkfrommyeye G'day, have you got your Green Hell yet? I live in Australia and my only option is the physical but I'm worried it will take month's to arrive, not to mention it works out to be like $105AUD..
@@aussieknuckles I did! It came faster than I expected. You may already know this, but just in case you don’t, you can make a new profile on your switch but set it to a different region. You can then access the Nintendo shop for that region under that profile. So if you’re saying that you have to get it physically because it’s not on the Australian shop, that may be a good idea. I buy all my games physically, so if that’s what you want, I understand. One last thing. If you do do it that way, in order to add funds, you may have to buy a Nintendo gift card online and then add funds to your account that way. I did this to buy a Japanese game and they wouldn’t let me use my debit card so I had to get a gift card.
@@isquirtmilkfrommyeye Cheers for the reply, RU-vid didn't notify me. Just happened to be looking at footage again and see the comment lol. Yeah I tried to get Greenhell months ago doing that, set up an account set it in Japanese region, managed to navigate the store and yeah same issue, wouldn't accept card. Gave up, then my News feed on the Switch was full of Japanese writing and games.. Definitely going physical, good to hear it ships fairly quick, gonna be over $100 once currency is exchanged.
@@yetanotherretroreview4476 I thought darkwood was more of a survival horror experience, I have the game on PS4 but haven't actually played it yet, I will give it a go some time soon though.
The horror is there sure but there is a day and night cycle, you craft, explore, avoid combat when necessary, etc. The atmosphere was very grim but mechanically I feel it leans more on survival in my opinion. Worth a play!
@@yetanotherretroreview4476 Ahh ok I didn't realise it had more in depth survival mechanics, I just saw its visuals and liked the look so bought it but never got around to playing it. Ill definitely have to give it a go soon.
I wanted to buy a Nintendo Switch Lite with this game, but I see that the game does not work very well, given that the Switch pulls even the Witcher,I expected to see more in this game
Well it's the developers fault. Look at assassin's creed rebel collection it runs perfectly on Nintendo switch. Switch is a good console but developers laziness makes it bad.
I originally started playing green hell on the switch but after no updates for forever and really lagging behind development, I have been playing it on steam on linux with proton the last year .... the graphics on steam is so much more realistic too.....plus the spirits add-on and others that don't exist on switch. I have lost hope on them ever updating it on switch with all the changes that have occurred since it was released.
Hey Sam, no its not currently up to the latest PC version, some items are located in different places and there is currently no multiplayer. They will keep updating it I believe, they have a road map on the games official site and the PS4/Xbox versions will be releasing in the near future which may potentially result in the first Switch update.
Bear Grylls the game 🤣 Now seriously this looks really good Between this, the Long Dark, Rebel Galaxy Outlaw and the Survivalist I think I'll be busy for the rest of the year Btw are the survival option maps randomly generated or do you pick from a variety?
Yea the long walk is one I still want to play and I had a lot of fun with the survivalists. I forgot to mention that, there is just the one map which you're dropped into at a random location. But it's pretty large from what I could tell, it's difficult to gauge though because the trees are everywhere lol
Yea I think sometimes procedural generation can be an issue especially with such deep mechanics, games like Ark and the long dark both have hand crafted maps and sometimes I think this is really good for immersion.
As far as I'm aware Dieufry, The Long dark doesn't have randomly generated maps and neither does ARK, they are pre-created maps and only the placement of objects within them are random.
@@SwitchStars I purchased this game on the Nintendo switch yesterday and I've already logged a solid 10 hours. More than likely going to be picking it up on Steam shortly.
I’ve been scouring the Internet for any information on whether we will see any content updates for the switch version of this game. I have found nothing... Does anyone know?
Unfortunately I can only assume the Switch version of this game has been abandoned. The developers deflect any questions about the switch version and tell people to instead ask Forever Entertainment, the company who handled the port. Forever Entertainment has seemingly ignored any Green Hell related questions for several months and have moved on to other projects. It’s a real shame. This is a fantastic port, but it could certainly use at least some of the content updates being rolled out.
Yea I think they just had a job getting it to run on the switch, which is still a marvel. Maybe we will see updates one day, they still rolled out the expansion for the switch I believe?
@@SwitchStars No. The switch has seen one update so far, and it was to fix bananas and nuts not spawning. There have been no others. Honestly I’d just be happy with getting the expanded shelters update.
To me I love it, but it does suffer. I turned the smoothing down in the setting and it seemed to help me. It does seem to be a pretty old version of the pc version. There are a few items in locations of older versions. So hopefully it will have some stuff updated. I play always in handheld and can’t get enough of it. Maybe I am weird. It does take a while to get use to controls coming from pc.
Yea SwitchCorner said that as he has also played the PC version quite a bit, first time for me playing though. I'm really hoping that they implement Multiplayer would have a ball livestreaming one of those sessions 😂
That's a reasonable comparison Jersey, but the visuals are less stylised and the survival mechanics and crafting system have significantly more depth to them.
I second what star says, yes it has issues and I think it is an older version. So it isn’t a current build but if we get updates we should be good. I play in handheld and I like it. It does take a while to get use to the controls for sure. Got it on pc also.
Well 3 is lower than 4. Lol. I went allot higher but I think for me this is my sort of game and I'm used to the controls on consoles for them. I love this game such a breath of fresh air on the switch and to me for them to fit this on the switch is amazing as others have tried and failed. Good review.
Yea for those who love these games and don't mind the cursor controls, it is good to see a game with such depth on the store though, I do want to dive back into it as well which is rare for me lol
Hey Baxter, I produced that video when I was first starting out the channel and didn't know what direction to go in but I had fun playing, I might actually do a bit of a livestream this Christmas with some of the other 1000 game disks I've got for a bit of a laugh 😊
The game will not save with the simple shelters from what I remember, it has to be a decent one, I believe the notes for each tells you which ones do and which ones don't
It's quite different than Ark, no dinosaurs for one and a lot more granular with its survival mechanics, but It has a similar level of difficulty to it, so if you enjoy challenging survival games you'll probably have a good time with it.
@@SwitchStars man i already am, my girlfriend just walked passed the tv and saw what was happening and shes been backseat gaming me for an hour now while we both figure out how to survive. its been pretty fun and its the first game that has caught her attention, mind you ive been finishing BOTW for the last month and she never cared. Anyways thanks for the recommendation, great video.
Hey Roy, yes it does have some framerate issues on the Nintendo Switch, but it is still very playable. The hardest thing is the backpack management lol
You could attempt a vegan playthrough lol, I basically couldn't find carbs for a long time and my energy was really low all the time so Id be interested in seeing what a lack of protein will do.
Would be an interesting experiment, I'd suggest finding the fishing harbor or one of the settlements they have a bunch of food to keep you going at least for a few days.
wait, the game is counting macros or u guys r comparing meat/carbs just for fun? if this game actually distinguishes between even just proteins and carbs, i might be more interested
@@SwitchStars Does this game play at 720p on handheld and 1080p docked?Sorry,I'm new to the switch.Do you think the switch lite is inferior to the switch?
@@immortal98638 Yes I believe so Ambarish, most games are. I would say that there are advantages to the full Switch, mainly the ability to swap out Joycons if they end up getting Joycon drift and the ability to dock for the additional power and resolution. But if you're playing handheld, I don't think there's a huge difference.
No offence but if you're a proper gamer you wouldn't get a Switch (unless you only buy the switch for Nintendo exclusives, and game on other platforms too)
😂 What is a "Proper Gamer" when it's at home? Someone who just plays AAA titles or the next Call of Duty? I'd say if you're expecting to play games with next gen graphics or even last gen ports, the Switch isn't the best console for it, but it doesn't make you any less of a gamer. There are also hundreds of great indie games on the switch and I'd actually say in some ways that it's a better platform for playing those.
