This is our original song about the scenic wonder and pastoral serenity of the Green Mountain State.
GREEN MOUNTAIN DAYS
They say the grass is always greener on the other side,
I never knew how green it was 'til I took a ride
To a place of scenic wonder where the mountains rise
And the verdant beauty seems to touch the skies.
Chorus:
Back to the Green Mountain Days
And the laid back country ways.
Tranquility will find me as I leave my cares behind me.
Green Mountain Days take me away.
An awestruck artist paints a scene of such a rustic view
Of pastoral meadows bathed in their namesake hue.
A lonely distant horn sounds from a passing train
While sailboats glide gently 'cross the waves of Lake Champlain.
Back to the Green Mountain Days
And the laid back country ways.
Tranquility will find me as I leave my cares behind me.
Green Mountain Days take me away.
From Bennington to Burlington and places in between,
Bellows Falls on to Randolph such wonders to be seen.
Back to the Green Mountain Days
And the laid back country ways.
Tranquility will find me as I leave my cares behind me.
Green Mountain Days take me away.
The sun sets o'er the mountaintops slipping out of sight
As the full moon rises in the New England night.
Fireflies dance all night long 'til the break of dawn
As mourning doves begin to sing their melancholy song.
Back to the Green Mountain Days
And the laid back country ways.
Tranquility will find me as I leave my cares behind me.
Green Mountain Days take me away.
