We Head to Head two Irish Pot Still Whiskies
GREEN SPOT: Part of Irish Distillers’ single pot still range. Produced specifically for Dublin grocer Mitchell and Sons, this no-age-statement (NAS) whiskey was once only available in Dublin. The name comes from a practice of marking different ages of maturing barrels of whiskey with a dab of paint. Approximately a quarter of the whisky was matured in ex-sherry casks. Bottled at 43%.
Following Amber Beverage Group’s acquisition of Walsh Whiskey, the Irish producer rebranded The Irishman in early 2022. Previously known as Founder’s Reserve, The Harvest is said to celebrate the role of the farming community in whiskey making. Crafted from a blend of 70% single malt and 30% single pot still whiskey, all made with Irish barley, triple distilled and matured in American oak ex-bourbon barrels. Bottled at 43%.
