I really like how you documented the growth to show us...i love Green terrors too i used to have one years ago...may just have to get one again after watching this.
My green terror grew from like 2.5” to almost 8” in a year. I have him in a 75 gallon and did weekly water changes and fed hikari Cichlid gold and frozen brine shrimp.
I absolutely loved this video. Alot of things are contrary to what I have read and I love it! I have a 90 gallon that I just purchased and re siliconed. I am very excited to learn of the tank mates I can have with the green terrors I will soon purchase. Please make another update, you have an amazing tank!
@@kenpachi1112 Thanks for the reply! I am very excited to set this new tank up as it will be the largest tank I have ever had. Your message is encouraging because I was planning on very similar fish. I wanted a pair of Green Terrors, Jack Dempseys, Convicts and possible Geophagus Sveni or a Sevrum. Maybe even 3 Silver Dollars and a Pleco. I look forward to your next video update. Have a blessed day.
I have a 90 gallon with 1 Oscar about 9inch, 1 severum about 5 inch, 2 green terrors both about 5 inch but I will probably rehome 1 of them and keep the wild one, also have in there 1 electric blue Accra about 2 inch to 2.5 inch 2 convicts that I will be putting into my central American cichlid indoor pool when they grow a bit more they are a breeding pair, have 5 corydoras, 2 bristlenose plecos and 1 Raphael striped catfish, I'll probably be rehoming the corydoras and 1 of the green terrors then I'll put the convicts in the pool and get a group of geos instead, eventually I will upgrade to a 180gallon so I can also have silver dollars, 1 or 2 more severums and a larger pleco instead of bristlenose
Just purchased a green terror around 5cm and was wondering how fast they grow as he/she is the smallest fish in my tank. Thank you so much for sharing ❤
I like your concept of the automatic feeder. It make sense, sometime they should not left every natural thing and watch you as a provider once you are near😅, I do have two green terrors only in the tank. one is 7inches and other is a 5month female. Man the big guy is gorgeous equally as yours😍 he always greets me by keeping his forehead above the water😂
I added some additional information in the video description. I did this project over several days so sorry about the mixed bag of voiceovers, I have learned a lot and will take that into account next time, this has been a great learning experience!
You have a great looking tank! I'm surprised your plants are surviving with some of the fish that you have in there. 50% twice a week is also a lot of water changing. Do you think it might alter the hormone level of the water too much and disrupt the heirachy in there? I've always been taught that changing much more than 25-30% throws the harmony out of wack.
FWIW, I'm pretty sure it's already a hybrid. That black line on it's face is usually when you have a gold saum crossed with blue acara somewhere in the lineage. It's incredibly common in the trade. In fact, this 'hybrid' is a lot easier to find than 'pure' Gold Saums or 'true' Green Terrors in most pet/fish stores.
The growth rate has to do with the tank size as well. I bought mine being about 3.5 to 4 inches last December. I had him on a hospital 20 gal tank first month, after that, he spent roughly 9 months in a 55 gal, now he is in a 75 gal, and he is roughly around the 6 to 6.5 inches long. But you have a big advantage, your fish seems to be in a much larger community tank.
I have had this same question for my setup. Mine is in a 55 gallon right now. Bought him at about an inch to 1.5. I have had him around and have only got an inch of growth. His tank mate a convict has gained size where I think goes along with what I have read and seen. But there has to be something going on as I would think they would still get good growth out of a 55 at the size I bought and where these fish can get. Wow I derped out. Was saying I have had him 6 months.
I'm a bit curious about the agression as I keep arowana together with 4 gold saum, then I'm afraid that my crossback is going to be nipped or even attacked to death, of course the aro is way bigger, but gold saum appears to fear nothing.
My oscar was 6cm 2 weeks later 12cm.... maybe I'll have to rehome him since other cichlids like jack Dempsey, green terror, convicts, firemouths, sevs aren't growing nearly as fast
@@FishyAquariums in the end it turned out alright, I have him in a South American only tank and have the central American cichlids in a indoor pool, he almost 10 inches now but super peaceful my male green terror is way smaller at 5inches and chases him a but also have a 5inch sev and another green terror but more peaceful, have corys, Raphael striped catfish and a electric blue Accra
I’m not getting any growth and I’ve had mine for 6 months he’s still 2”!! And he was an inch when I bought him. And I’m 100% certain he’s a male. I feed heavy do lots of water changes lots of plants. And still no growth.
Tank size? Stress i have an angel that stopped growing after a couple months, then i saw that he was stressed from my agressive tetras he grew up with 🥲 hes stil only half his max size but already a year old
no way 1 inch per month???? that's SUPER fast growth...you must feed heavily and have a very large tank...ok it's your water changes promoting growth too..50 percent twice a week..
