I try raw turning. This time he was sharpening a bowl from a freshly cut Apple tree. The rough workpiece was dried using a microwave oven.
It took 28 times to heat the workpiece. As a result of drying, it lost 34% of weight, which in absolute value was 450 g.
The result did not please me very much. It is necessary to optimize the drying process to reduce cracking. However, the Apple tree is insidious in this sense. "Ash maple" (aka Ácer negúndo) under a similar drying regime gave significantly less cracks.
All cracks are not filled fundamentally. Do not accept the symbiosis of wood and epoxy, but in this case the crack was large and continuous.
