Greenwashing: What is it? | Gabe Brown

I’ve interviewed many people over the years who are very accomplished. I’m not sure I’ve ever felt as comfortable and connected to Gabe Brown.
Gabe is the author of, Dirt to Soil, the top regenerative agriculture book, and is now a consultant and educator on top of still running his North Dakota farm. Understanding Ag is Gabe and a former guest on the podcast Dr. Allen Williams.
The newest endeavor is a certification called Regenify. This process and entity will guarantee that products and farms carrying the designation are the real deal.
Greenwashing is a term we all need to be aware of, especially if we care about supporting companies being regenerative. “Greenwashing is where a company uses advertising and public messaging to try to appear to be environmentally sustainable and green - greener than it is. It’s also a technique certain companies use to distract consumers from the fact that their business model and activities do a lot of
harm and damage.”
Will Harris received flak and repercussions from Wholefoods as he described greenwashing on the Joe Rogan podcast. It’s well worth watching.
What Gabe and Allan are doing with Regenify is much needed. While I want it everywhere, I selfishly wish for Arkansas to engage and be a leading region for prosperity. We, as a state, can be a leader.

Discovered Gabe Brown some months ago. We have a smallholding with about 4 acres of arable land on our plot in Zambia. Our rainy season has just started. For the last 20 years we have allocated about a lima of land to each of our employees to plant what they want each year on condition that they used pothole tilling using NO commercial agriinputs or agricides. Manure and compost only; crop rotation with legumes. YESTERDAY we played Part 1 of "Treating the Farm as an Ecosystem" as the first step of training them in regenerative gardening. Today our meeting was with a handful of men and one woman with great enthusiasm.

I had the privilege to be a part of the case studies in Dirt to Soil. I was blessed to stumble into regenerative agriculture at a young age and 10 years after planting my first covers, the transformation that has occurred by changing my mindset of production agriculture is truly remarkable. I would love to chat with you (or anyone for that matter). My focus is regenerative gardening, which is practical and applicable on any scale.

Thank you, Logan, for this interview. Before I watched it, I had watched your interview with Joel Salatin, also. I really appreciate both these gentlemen tremendously, having read their books, and I appreciate you for taking the time to interview them. I was going to make a comment about the music loudness, but other people already have. I would only add that maybe you don't need to have music in the background at all? I know it's popular in modern culture to feel that we need a soundtrack for everything in life. But in reality we don't. May God bless you and your family.

Just found your channel. In addressing the land grant university system. I used to work at a land grant university. Unfortunately universities are not really educators anymore. Universities are money makers now. Chemical companies compete to give departments money to research and study more and more chemicals. They don't teach the agriculture students to use organic practices. My husband is also a Vietnam Veteran with end stage parkinsons disease from agent orange (glyphosate). He resides in a VA nursing home. They have a patio area with raised garden beds. The recreational person and I have had several discussions about growing food there. They can and are now growing vegetables because I gave them seeds, but the residents are not allowed to eat it because government rules. It's insane. 😢

I'm so sorry. Your experience in land grant universities sounds like many stories I've heard. Prayers for you and your husband.

That was a really inspiring video, I think we can all grow good food ourselves using regenerative principles. I make compost and grow tomatoes, runner beans, potatoes, soft fruit and apples in my garden. I also grow a lot of vegetables in containers, its something we all can do if we put our minds to it.

What changes will fix the food industry. First what is the problem?
@SowingProsperity

Don't think the food industry can or will be fixed. A parallel one will have to replace it, which I believe can happen.

I loved what little part of the words in the video I listened to but Is it possible to post this video without the background music? The music is excruciatingly distracting and annoying. My mind was not focused on the discussion, it was focused on "when is this music ever going to stop?". Please considered posting without the music. I don't know about anyone else but it was driving me nuts. It is not natural to me to have (or listen to) a discussion with perpetual background music.

True and this is a problem on way too many YT videos. The era of music required for "Silent Movies" passed almost 100 years ago and now is just pure annoying.
