I've always said that about the West Village having been to London over 14 times. The streets below 14th street, which encompasses this part was before the GRID was done. The GRID starts at 14th street which the avenues go north and south and the avenues go east to west. It's the best place in the city to just walk around..

Yeah the more conservative places are very cool now not ran down by the politicians, yet!
