My greenworks 16" chainsaw is great,it's my second one. I can cut a 1/2 cord of wood on 1 battery pack. I also have a pole cutter that also uses the same battery. I like the power it draws.

I've looked at getting a Greenworks pole saw, but I wasn't really sure if I needed it. We have a standard Fiskers pole saw, but an electric one would make the work so much easier.

Have you had a chance to use it yet? If you have what do you think? If you haven't used it yet make sure you don't push too hard. Let the saw do the work. If you push too hard the chain will fall off.

I have a Farm Boss Stihl chainsaw, been using it for 15 years or more and love it, however I can sure see some benefits of this one you have. I'll definitely be checking it out thanks for the vid!

Having a Stihl Chainsaw for bigger projects and an electric for down branches or common smaller projects would be the way to go.

I have a 24" EGO CSX5000 and four batteries for it. I think it'll handle most 'big' trees!

Very cool set up man! I like the shift towards preparedness that u talked about it a prior video, but i hope u do mix in wilderness stuff from time to time. I think if ur gonna go electeic with ur power tools, it is good to go all-in on that and have stuff that is interchangeable or has the same charging stations. Especially if u can hook them into solar power panels for renewable energy in case of power failure.
@newageselfreliance
@newageselfreliance 4 года назад
That is another reason I wanted battery powered tools. Now that I have that 500 Watt Solar Generator I can charge them even when the power is out.

I bought the 16 inch but with the 12 amp corded for 110 v mains. A 14 gauge 98 foot outdoor weather rated cord is good for 13 amps, so you are in no chance of browning out, or heating up either the saw or cord. I went for 100 feet so I can pretty much go anywhere on a 50 foot width by 120 foot residential property. With the corded, costs less, will NEVER run out of power for all day use, will never need to purchase a replacement battery, or they go out of stock, or manufacture a few years out from your purchase. I highly recommend the CORDED version of which of course, can be used with a portable power generator if you want to take it out to the field or forest. Just go and look at the cost of a 40v or 60 volt replacement battery, and you can buy for a few dollars more...a small gas generator for work away from your residence...and never fear running out of power, or you can't find a replacement battery as battery operated chain saws, have E.O.L. only a few months or years from the date of manufacture. I got burned on a battery operated garden tool already (batteries for that model were no longer offered by the manufacturer(!!!!!) ,...and swore to never buy another battery operated outdoor garden tool (or chain saw) again! 110 mains volt all the way....or with a small generator out in the field...!!!!

That is a really good idea. Even just having one stored in the garage would be a smart idea. Thank You so much for sharing. I might have to get myself a corded chainsaw.

I have a 16 inch as well I also didn't wanna dick around with gas and mixing headache the only drawback I found is battery time if ya got alot if work to do I don't need a chain saw alot so the electric saw works for me and I like the simplicity with battery powered saws
@newageselfreliance
@newageselfreliance 4 года назад
That is true the battery does limit the time you can actually work. It also only take a couple hours to fully charge and get back at it. Having multiple batteries does help a lot too. I have one charging at all times so it helps cut down on the wait time.

That is really good up to date review, may I ask how long does it take to charge the 40v 2AH battery seen this on Amazon. Spain for a good price that comes with 2 batteries and the charger.
@newageselfreliance
@newageselfreliance 2 года назад
I'm not sure exactly how long it takes to charge the battery. Caroline and I would use the saws and once the batteries would die we would take a break for a couple hours (for lunch usually) and the batteries would be ready to go again.

👍 Thanks for your patience and explaining of the Greenworks 40V Chainsaw, I just bought one and you gave some helpful information. The saw came without oil and I was wondering what oil do you recommend me buying to use on the saw. Oh by the way, I am from Trinidad in the Caribbean. Thanks, I await your reply. 👍

@@newageselfreliance thanks for info... how long to charge fully from being dead?
@newageselfreliance
@newageselfreliance 3 года назад
If I remember correctly it was about 2-3 hours from completely dead. We would run the saws until they wouldn't turn on anymore and then take a few hour break to eat lunch or rest and they would always be charged by the time we were ready to go again.

Greenworks chainsaws and trimmers are absolute rubbish. Fisher Price toys. Not intended for real work. Costs as much as REAL equipment.
@newageselfreliance
@newageselfreliance 2 года назад
What do you mean by real work? As a homeowner, I only have 6 trees in my yard. Buying a gas chainsaw and maintaining it would be a waste of time.
@sedwards061668
@sedwards061668 2 года назад
@@newageselfreliance i have a very small yard, and only a small part of it is overgrown. The greenworks chainsaw will barely cut down baby trees 3 inches in diameter and throws the chain every 5 minutes. The trimmer quickly gets wrapped in vines and locks up. I could have gotten the chainsaw attachment for my Husqvarna trimmer and everything would be fine today.
@newageselfreliance
@newageselfreliance 2 года назад
We had the same problem with the chain at first too. You have to make sure to properly tension the chain. You also can't push hard when you are cutting. You have to let the tool do the work. Once we figured out how to use it we haven't had any problems with it ever since.
@sedwards061668

@John-cj3ve
@John-cj3ve Месяц назад
@@sedwards061668sounds like somebody needs a lesson in how to use a chainsaw! I have three 'little' Greenworks saws; 10, 12, and 14 inch. I have cut all sizes of wood with them, including full bar cuts; and have never experienced the difficulties you've described. Do I think they're built as well as my three EGO saws? No; but I bought the Greenworks because EGO doesn't make saws in the same size class I was looking for. I am very happy with my Greenworks saws. And when my neighbor watched me cutting up his big oak tree; he decided HE wanted one; I steered him towards the Greenworks for the type of cutting he would be exposed to.
