A viewer reached out to me to see if i had any experience with the Greenworks 2300psi 2.3gpm electric pressure washer available at lowes. I said no an immediately ordered it so i could test it out. After doing a little bit of research. i found that Greenworks had another 2300psi 2.3gpm pressure washer that was sold on Amazon. So i quickly ordered that one as well so i could test them side by side. Could this be the best all around electric pressure washer? ENJOY!

The reason for the delay is because it's a brushless induction motor... Without direct contact from a brush, the motor needs to spin up to create the fields necessary for torque - applying all the pressure at once would mean the motor couldn't start or would have a tough time doing so. The holy grail would be to have a brushless motor, but instead of induction, use a permanent reluctance magnet motor. Naturally, that would be $$$. So the trade off here is a bullet proof motor that is cheap, with lots of power that will last forever - but with a tiny delay. Worth it in my opinion!

Great review Josh. Seems lazy to start, but decent pressure washers otherwise. I mentioned this in one of your older videos, but you can tell a lot based on the certification these pressure washer manufacturers use. The box will show it. If they use CSA standards, like Sun Joe, Powerplay/Westinghouse, etc. then they're only testing peak psi at initial trigger pull (not sustained), and max gpm is with no nozzle tip attached. That's why they can advertise huge numbers that don't match your testing. They're not real world. If they certify with PWMA, like Ryobi, or Greenworks, then they're testing real world sustained performance. Not just peak numbers. To be PWMA certified, you need to be 90%+ of your advertised performance figures during actual sustained usage. So if you want a pressure that will match or be very close to their advertised numbers, buy one that is PWMA certified, and not CSA.

My Lowes version is being delivered tomorrow. As I sit here the night before watching this, I am very pleased that you are pleased with the washer. Thanks for the information. I used to be a computer tech...so I am used to waiting for things to ramp up. The delay won't bother most of the average home-owners like me.

Nice video, Josh. Appreciate the time you took to make it. I bought one a couple years back locally. That delay kills me. Especially when I have my foam cannon attached to wand. I either waste product or adjust cannon to use less soap during the delay then go back to "full" suds mode. Either way, frustrating. Again, thanks for the video.

Thanks Josh, I recently took time to watch a couple dozen videos of yours while preparing to get into the hobbyist detailing game. Your videos are by far the most informative to DIY/Home users and really helped me appreciate the little details I should consider. I was going to go with the Active VE52 (Simoniz branded here in canada) but after watching their own video on the issues they've had I decided to go with this model and in all honesty I will need the higher PSI for jobs around the house. In any case, writing this to thank you for helping us home users get dialed in. Wish i could have bought stuff of your website but it wouldn't deliver to Montreal so I had to go with the Griots cannon but would love that foam making filter if I could find it in Canada!!) In all sincerity, I couldn't thank you enough for all your time and video's bringing us all the best reviews and heads up!!

I bought one from Lowe’s 2 months ago. Used it twice, worked fine. Fired it up yesterday and it started shut off after 10-15 minutes run time. After letting it cool for 15-20 minutes it started running again. Ran 5 minutes then quit again. I let it cool for 30 minutes. Worked again for 3-4 minutes then this time when it quit, the motor started smoking… a lot. Not the pump, the electric motor was burnt. Brought it immediately back to the Lowe’s I bought it from, and they refused to replace it or refund my money. Was told their return policy changed a month ago. Was informed that returns have to be within 30 days and in an unopened box. Really… if the box isn’t opened, how would one know there’s a problem. Good news is, I contacted Greenworks directly and explained my dilemma and was told they would ship a new one to me and apologized for the problem. Excellent response and customer service from Danny in their Toronto office. Greenworks - excellent product and customer service. Lowe’s - changed return policy after customer has made the purchase. I know where I will no longer be spending my money.

I bought the GPW2300 from Amazon and experianced the same issues. Was on hold the fisrt timie with GW for over 3.5 hours when the call dropped. never could talk to a live person but only through the chat box. The guy told me it was air trapped in the machine and should never happen again. well... it did. the power and water sources were as good as perfect. With no help from GW, we ended up talking to Amazon customer service were after a little runaround agreeded to a refund. It's a bummer because I really liked this machine but it's NOT a trustworthy machine. Hopefully they figure this out.

I was looking at the higher psi units available at home depot and lowes. I never thought to look at a 2300psi model. For car washing GPM is what it's all about. I also love the price point of this machine. I'm getting one today. I have a big 11hp gas model that'll strip the paint off of the car and a small inexpensive 1600 psi electric that I bought for very cheap at an auction. I actually like the 1600 psi but just wish it had more ooomph. This seems like a good unit at a great price.

I tried to buy the Ryobi 2300 but they are no longer available. I then bought the new Ryobi 2500 but, like the 2700, it doesn't have the total stop system. It also has a crappy way to hold the power cable and the water hose and only offers one useable nozzle. I took that one back immediately and bought the Lowe's Greenworks 2300. It is a much better design and features much better accessories. Since I am a DIYer, I decided to live with the delay. Thanks a lot for your informative reviews.

If I hadn't just bought my Active the other month, these would have been a consideration. Still think I would have ended up going for the Active anyway though, as that delay in ramping up would drive me crazy. Also, the Active is just so much more compact and easier to store, which makes it a big plus for me. And since I'm using the pressure washer pretty much strictly for car detailing, I don't need any of the additional range that these Greenworks provide. Still great units though, and as others have said, it's nice to see some competition for Active in this space, as it can only help improve both companies moving forward.

The ramp up? You hardly notice? I just used mine for the first time today, the Amazon one, 2,300psi , and it’s really nothing. Kicks right up to full pressure, in like 3 seconds? Doesn’t bother me at all. Actually loved using it. My first pressure washer👍

Great video. I just wish you'd go more into the technical specs of the units. Like what pumps they use, what the construction internally is, material quality, and maybe also compare them to more pro units like the Karcher, Comet or AR electric units. I initially invested into a gas powered belt driven pressure washer, rated at 4200 Psi @ 4 GPM, last year. I drop pressure when washing cars to between 1750 - 2300 psi, by using various larger orifice nozzles...thing is that also increases the GPM flow to between 6-8 GPM. So while I love that power washer, its a bit overkill for just washing cars - and am now in the market for an electric unit that i can just dedicate to car detailing. I've been eyeing units from Karcher, Comet, and AR, but have been wondering if Greenworks is a viable cheap alternative. The unit would just get mounted by the entrance of my garage. All these are for personal use, not professional.

I just got this Lowes version yesterday and have used it for hours. I mean no offense to Josh, the reviewer, but I think he got into many of your heads when talking about the slight delay/ramp up of the motor. This is not a matter of life and death - absolutely nothing to get crazy about. It's only 5 seconds or less. You waste a lot more time on other things, and for me, it was only a trickle coming out during that time, no great loss of water or soap. I worked on dirty cement with the turbo nozzle. I have no complaints. It worked great. I tried some other nozzles on furniture and also had great results. Unless you're a heavy-duty professional, every-day user, this washer is a winner. Recommended.

Very nice video. Well scripted and thought out. I completely understand for your use you would not like that 'Jetflow' technology and having to wait while the unit 'ramps' up. However, maybe, in the long run that technology might lead to a more durable and longer life of the unit. That ramping up is easier on the head unit on start up. Time will tell. Anyway, I think you made up my mind of which pressure unit I'll buy for my needs. Thanks

I recently purchased the newer Lowe's model (2301) on sale for $200. 1st one had to go back due to a leaky pump. 2nd one works fine. I knew of the delay, but decided the pros out weighed the cons and this was the price point I was looking at. It will be use for typical DIY home owner stuff. I had a similarly powered gas PW (my dad's) that I rarely used because it was heavy and a hassle. But now that I have this one, I may find more things to clean.

This was a dry run......no pun intended. I used it to clean the rims on my car. It handled the job with ease. I experienced the delay you were talking about, but I can live with that. Thanks for the video, it made me think how much power would be require getting the performance of the pressure washer as advertised. Using an online calculator and assuming that the motor is 100% efficient, to get 2300psi at 2.3gpm would require 2.3KW or 20 amps at 115V when the water supply is at 0 psi and about 100w less if the mains water pressure is at 100psi. From what I I have read the typical efficiency of a good quality pressure washer is about 75%. This would make it about 3KW or 26Amps at 115V for the figures stated above.

Very happy with it.UPDATE: After 6 months of use and over 70 uses I would still highly recommend this pressure washer. It does vibrate a decent amount but never had it “walk” like others have mentioned. No oil leaks, still seems to run like the day I bought it. Still cranks within 2-3 pulls every time. Very happy with my purchase!Have used it about a dozen times now. Plenty of power, cranks up on 1-2 pulls every time. My only complaint would be I wish it was a little taller to make it easier to walk with it (hits my ankles a lot) and that the two hose connections were a little further apart but it hasn’t caused me any issues. Seems to run a good 1-1/2-2 hrs on a full tank, overall a well built machine and definitely worth the money in my opinion.

I got the Amazon one before watching this video. I dislike the delayed start, especially with the foam cannon, but if I give the trigger a bump and wait 3 seconds I get full pressure. I do dig the pressure and slow, lots better than the Black Max I had before. And I mounted a DI tank on top of it, so I have a fairly compact unit that works amazing and has a small-ish footprint.

The view of the pump at about the 9:00 mark of the video makes it look like it might be a 5-piston pump. I’m not an expert, just basing this on the appearance of 5 round areas in the casting of the front plate that may coincide with the pump pistons. If it is a 5 piston like the units from Active, that would explain the similar max flow rates. No idea where Greenworks sourced their pump, but a brushless motor could be an improvement over the brushed motor from Active. Except for the ridiculous ramp-up delay… Thanks Josh for the interesting review. FYI - I have an Active VE52 plus the 3yr extended warranty based on your review along with a few others.

Last night after using this I realized later on that the GFIU in the system tripped but not the 15 amp fuse. I'm not sure if the pressure washer did that or something else. When I plugged it in I made sure to the best of my ability that nothing else was on that circuit. Would love to have a dedicated breaker for this but thats not happening just yet

I was recently in the market for a good homeowner unit. Your video helped. I did skip around a bit on your vid, but it did help narrow the field, and ultimately, I bought the GW Pro 2300 psi, newer style unit in-store at Lowe's here in Central Florida. One thing to keep in mind is that Lowe's had both the Greenworks 2300 and the Greenworks Pro 2300. The difference in price is $199 versus $349. The more expensive model has a truly brushless motor. I bought the Pro 2300 on sale for $299. So, how well does it work? I'd call it fair-to-good, but then I'm comparing it to a 2800 PSI 3.0 gpm gas engine unit that I owned up in New England. Using the turbo tip, I power washed the dirt and moss off of my 1 story, vinyl-sided 1500 Sq Ft home in about 3 hours including set up and break-down/storage. Another day, using the turbo nozzle again, I washed my 2 car concrete driveway and apron in about 2.5 hours. The driveway took longer per sq ft of area because of the dirt and that black concrete mildew/mold that Florida is famous for. I did pretreat the surface with "Krud-Kutter" brand concrete and driveway soap for pressure washers. It took nearly the whole gallon of soap, I sprayed it on the entire driveway and let it soak for about 10 minutes, keeping it wet periodically while washing the surface. I'm not terribly certain it helped. Greenworks does make a 15" diameter surface cleaner attachment (looks like a floor buffer machine) and I'm pretty sure that would have cut the time down significantly as well as alleviate the few remaining "brush strokes" that are common when using fan or turbo tip.

Love the gpm and was set on the dewalt which has far less gpm....BUT....The stutter before actually getting the pressure up along with what I can only say is by far they most annoying pitch in sound for a pressure washer makes me be perfectly okay with sacrificing the gpm lol I just keep picturing my cats covering their ears and saying "WTF IS THAT!!!" haha Thanks for the review!
@soneeeee4440
@soneeeee4440 2 года назад
real gpm is 1.2 it seems like just about every other 2000 psi or so unit. The highest gpm figures are a joke, basically using the widest opening i.e. soap tip. why does greenworks choose to even mention this misleading 2.3 gpm value, i mean who cares ? i can take an axe to my city supply side pipe and get 250 gpm . Too bad the start delay is a dealbreaker. its like putting auto power eco mode on an oled tv so it stays as dim as possible to save 3 cents of power a month.

My old 3000psi greenworks finally gave out after over 3 years of abuse. My only complaint was the lack of tss and the noise is annoying. That being said, I just bought the 2300psi from Lowes to replace it. I just wear earbuds, the delay might be annoying but the power and the flow make up for it.

I purchased this unit recently at Lowe's on sale for $299. Great quality and a quiet motor. As mentioned the pump does take a small amount of time to ramp up. Not a big deal, it's something you can get used to. Unfortunately I had to return this unit because it will not work with a gravity fed system (or with a 70psi boost pump system, I tried both). Greenworks support explained that this pressure washer requires a 50psi water feed minimum at all times, meaning it will only work well with a city line. I bought the smaller 1800psi 1.2 gpm Greenworks unit and everything works great.

@bigskytraveller289
@bigskytraveller289 Год назад
For mounting, I think the Lowe's one is preferable. When you remove the soap tank, it can be mounted on 2 inch risers. The pump on the Amazon one sticks down further, so must be mounted much higher. I'm using the Lowe's one to mount on a Gorilla 1201B cart, along with my On The Go, 2-tank deionizer system, and hose and cord reels, so I can roll the whole unit wherever I need it, around the house.

Like you alluded to, both the delay and the sound make this a tough buy, especially if you're in a wash bay with a lot of echo. From personal experience, the 3000PSI model at 75ish DB is unusable in an echo chamber style wash bay, so can't imagine what 83DB sounds like. A damn shame because the specs are fantastic. Side note on the GW's Pro's - a fellow detailer runs the 3000PSI model and said they break all the time on him. It's covered under warranty, but he has to have two units as he can't afford to have any down time. So $800 on pressure washers...by that point you might as well just get an industrial AR630TSS in my opinion. If I was a full time detailer, I don't think I'd even consider buying a pressure washer that doesn't allow you to change the oil in it. Usually the first sign that a unit is built for every day use. Also excited to see which Bilt Hamber product you have lying on the ground there! Korrosol and Surfex HD are two of the strongest products I've ever used. Korrosol I have to wear a respirator with or else I get a pounding headache, but that could just be a personal thing and it works unbelievably well. Auto Foam also works extremely well, but it's not realistic with the amount of product you have to use imo. And lastly, Auto Wash seemed to be highly rated, but like other super concentrated soaps that I've tried in the past, I didn't get much lubricity out of it. Sticking with Meguiar's Hyper Wash for now

11-/19/21 - Question - I used it to wash my car today and it did great. But, when I first turned it on, it ran for a little while and shut down. I checked everything. I'd power it on and it would run for a fraction of a section of a second and immediately shout down, like something was tripping the switch. Finally, I went to the faucet and turned it half off (reduced the water pressure to the machine) - I'd had it full open. Then, I fired it up again and it ran just fine from that time on. Is it your experience that too much water pressure to an electric pressure washer will make it shut down and a moment after pressing the power button?
@robertdelacruz880
@robertdelacruz880 2 года назад
According to greenworks the reason the gpm is different is the higher gpm is with the soap tip so you can reach higher targets. And the lower gpm is when it’s pressurized.
