This was really well done. I'd like to add that Stellar's Jays, Ospreys and Purple Martins(or some species of Swallow) is abundant throughout these lands. The Aspens coupled with our gorgeous Pondersa Pines mixed with this year's monsoon is undeniably special. Spin fisherman here, and gently casting into the Black River and Little Colorado brought me back home to upstate NY's brooks. It's truly a place to bond with nature, unrestricted. Amazing waterfall find...maybe someday I'll travel back to find her. The Elk and Deer this season seem to be traveling less far for water and food. Staying tucked in the natural blinds rather than hitting up the lakes. The road less traveled. Something that's missed when you witness the urban jungle turn into a free for all.
Dan, this was an incredibly well produced video... I appreciate wonderfully crafted video productions that teach my family and I some wonderful things about our state! The way and manner in which you introduced everyone to Greer in this video was stunning and beautiful! We'll be sure to be good stewards of this gem while we're up there this weekend! Thank you for your production and imparting your love and respect for this hidden gem of Az!!!! Glad to see you found your way back home! The first time I ever saw or heard of fly fishing was unfortunately in a movie, when I saw A River Runs Through It (Robert Redford) as a younger man. I would love to learn to fly fish!
@@dandeublein3016 Thank you, sir! If not this time around... I hope to fulfill that goal not too far down the road! Thank you for your timely and kind reply! May I ask you where a good starter trout fishing area is in the immediate Greer locale for a novice fishing family? Is Big Lake a good place to start? I don't think we're ready to tackle any small streams like you did in your video anytime soon-- ill-equipped as we are, we don't have the proper fly rods; just regular casters. Is a fly rod and lures the only thing that works with trout on the lakes? We're interested in other areas besides the lakes, but this trip is more of a White Mountain exploration than a properly planned fishing excursion! Next time I plan to make it a mission when I'm better prepared! It will be my wife and I, an 10 and year 8 old, son and daughter, and my senior golden year in-laws with us. Thank you for any advice or tips you might send our way! --Andy Gallego
Making my first trip to the white mountains after living in the deep arizona desert for almost 11 years longing for the rivers and creeks I grew up fishing in oregon and washington. This video just made me overwhelmed with excitement
Amazing film bud, fly fishing is in my opinion the bow hunting of fishing and the adventure with the success in fly fishing much like bow hunting is what makes me keep coming back for more
Wow, amazing work on this video. I have a Greer video on my channel and we've been out of AZ now for 1 year. Greer is THE place we miss the most. What you said about preserving such a beautiful place is absolutely true. Most people don't understand when I tell them that this place is like no other place I've visited in the states.
Wow. This is art. As a statewide tour guide I like finding out about new places in Arizona. Was curious about Greer, so I looked up its wikipedia and notable people from Greer. Which led me to you and ultimately this video. And it's an absolute gem. Didn't know Greer was the highest elevation town in AZ. I need to visit, soak up the scenery and try the food options in town. Nice job 👍
I caught my first trout at 16 in River Reservoir in July of 1970 and then caught 3 more under the bridge at Greer a few hours later. I now live on a river, the Rio Blanco outside of Pagosa Springs, Colorado in the Rockies. Greer is paradise too.
I came across this video. Thank you for sharing your video of the love and understanding of nature. Especially an area that I have curious about. Can’t wait to head up there this summer.
Awesome video. I love the way you have put together the narration and video! Beautiful shots! Loved the snippets from your experiences. "We cut off pieces of our flip-flops to look like ants...and we caught fish!"
Look up Kaibab Plateau in Northern Arizona. It borders the north part of the Grand Canyon. That area is about as green, if not greener, than Greer. A majority of Arizona doesn't receive the moisture needed to make a green enough environment. (Of course it doesn't; that's why it's a desert) Check out the area around the San Francisco Peaks near Flagstaff. There are some awesome, beautiful places in those mountains, that are about as green as Greer :)
What an incredible video. A poignant reminder of why all people feel a sense of connection and fulfillment in nature. Dan's video reminds us that we don't need a reason to be in nature. We don't need a reason to understand why it makes us feel the way we do. We simply need to get there, let go of the distractions that complicate our lives, and simply... be.
