What an awesome new side plot. Up until this point, I had great respect for Ewan, and now we just see he's another player entering the game... or rather trying to be a god and break the game? Either way, he's got his own agenda and he's using Greg for it. What a tool like the rest of them.
0:24 charles babbage originated the concept of a digital programmable computer. According to wikipedia. Wikipedia says that one of the people he influenced is karl Marx. This is because of the idea of automation
@@savant7288 A difference engine is an automatic mechanical calculator designed to tabulate polynomial functions. It was designed in the 1820s, and was first created by Charles Babbage. I guess I'll have to watch it again to understand. It seems he just means because he is taking a double espresso
Some mathematician said "a mathematician is a machine for turning coffee into theorems." You'll see it on stickers and posters and stuff like that around the math/CS departments of universities. As others pointed out the "Difference Engine" was arguably the first computer (mechanical, VIctorian era), which was created by Charles Babbage. So the lawyer is sorta of smashing those two common bits of reference of nerd culture together and implying he, the lawyer, is a human computer, i.e. super efficient and awesome. But basically just being a huge nerd and like the messy office it indicates this guy is a whole nother vibe, not corporate, etc.
Ewan is trying to use Greg to put his beliefs into the company. Greg is going to beat down Ewan in front of Logan and show his superiority and be named as the true successor.
Ewan's Lawyer would have been a complete disaster for Greg. Perfectly cast and acted mannerisms, Pugh (sp?) feels like an aging 1960s/70s radical who is still fighting "the Man" and will throw Greg under the bus to do it. Legally, it's also unlikely that a federal court would allow Pugh to go on a fishing expedition with whatever Greg knows about Waystar anyway. And there's no guarantee Ewan still won't write him out of the will sometime down the line, after Greg does something else to piss him off.
