Yay..just got this pedal for Christmas and i already love it. Playing numerous guitars through a Laney Ironheart is just pure bliss.. I agree with Greg when he says at the end "If you get this, your gonna be happy.". Well i am happy : )
First, great show in Zoetermeer last Sunday with Simon Philips! I've bought this pedal a couple of months ago, love it! I already had a TC mini Spark at the end of my effects loop to boost everything coming from my amp, both clean or dirty, when necessary. I've always wanted to add another mini Spark at the front end, to slightly overdrive the amp when set at break up point, and add a second overdrive set at crunch gain. I sold my current overdrive (Xotic BB), replaced it by the Lick Box, and saved the costs of buying a separate second drive pedal and a boost pedal. Also, while it's quite a large pedal, it still takes up less real estate on my board than three separate pedals + patch cables. It's very easy to dial in good sounds, and I really enjoy the flexibility while playing with my band: just some boost for some extra volume and dirt, or a nice crunch sound, or push the high gain button for songs with power chords, and gain on top of crunch for searing solos.
One of my favorite players. Please keep the dynamics of the audio levels of him talking consistent so we don't have to turn the volume up and down during the video.
Man it would be nice if you showed the pedal controls in a side window of the video! Don't know much of what is going on. The problem solved would be set the pedal out front of the video!
Too bad you can't really see exactly how the knobs are pointing cuz of bad video quality. It's probably a blessing in disguise, it's not good to copy people exactly.
Watch this. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YTjhAw58Fls.html In this vid, he explains when he started understanding chord tones within the arpeggios, and using it differently. Instead of just shredding fast. It's how many blues players of today.."Josh Smith" and other newer fusion players "Mateus Asato, Tom Quale, Guthrie Govan" look at the fretboard. It took me a long time to finally see the fretboard this way, and it made all the difference for me. Good luck. Enjoy
Interesting. Just came from watching a video where Greg talks about how he likes things simple and has never had any use for boosts....and here is plugging a boost pedal. I feel for the guy. Needs money and has to plug gear every year or so. Kinda got left behind in the 90s. Amazing player.
dadude7 if you’ve noticed Greg recently stripped his rig down and is using a lower watt non master tube head now so it pretty much getting all his tone from a few dirt boxes, this included. In that application a boost is pretty useful especially since I believe he just leaves it on. Besides, when designing a pedal like this, first thing people would complain about is ‘no boost’, it’d be counterintuitive to market expectations
Hi Justin thanks standing up for the pedal and Greg, correct enough Greg does not use boost much, as he clearly say in the video, and as you say design a pedal like this to be used on a single channel amp as the mail OD source, the boost come in handy and would be stupid to leave out.
Pedalmakers sorry, not trying to be ‘that’ guy, but my original point stands. It’s kinda daft that he launches new gear two three years ago and says he doesn’t use a boost.... to then fast forward and be paid to launch a boost pedal and say he uses it. Peoe see through that. I’m not bashing he pedal, I bet it’s amazing.
Why are you focusing on the boost. He said it's like three pedals in one. The boost is an added feature. The original Ernie Ball Steve Morse model had a pickup on it that Steve only used one 1 song. It is just an added feature. Whether or not he uses it should not be an issue
How many crunch fuzz or overdrive and distortion pedals are out there. SMH the majority of them sound the same it is only so many ways you can distort something. but every year they come out with some kind of distortion pedal. Wake up people.
So true, I got one of these as a present and the built in drives on my amp sound the same!! They just put different labels on them, Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix etc etc. Total bullshit
Terrible demo. Greg talks too much But When he’s about to explain something, he plays 300 notes. Crunch should be in front of the high gain, and boost should be post, IMO.
