The Fusion Supergroup live in Italy @ Eddie Lang Jazz Festival 2011 - Pignatelli Castle in Monteroduni (Isernia) august 3rd. www.eddielang.org/ Greg Howe, guitar Stuart Hamm, bass Dennis Chambers, drums
Three stone cold badasses, showing how it's done. Too bad some people just want to nitpick at and belittle each other over a difference of opinion. Enjoy the music.
Greg is a very different player than Mike. Mike is much more of a bebop player who flavors his playing with some rock licks, whereas Greg really is a rock player that flavors his licks with some fusion.
Stu Hamm playing If You Want Me to Stay there in the solo, in reference to Sly and The Family Stone with Larry Graham ... So I googled it and found out that Prince also linked these 2 songs on a live album
Their from completely different styles, so you can't compare. Greg is totally fusion-rock, and sometimes pure rock. Mike is fusion-jazz, and sometimes plays just jazz.
It's a head scratcher that he is a known commodity in the guitar/bass world. I have NEVER been the slightest bit impressed. That thing with Jeff Berlin, Billy Sheehan, and Stu was laughable, in the sense that Berlin was essentially embarrassing both of them in every possible way throughout
wrong... man you know nothing about improvisation... Greg is good but Mike´s compositon and impro is light years away... Greg improvise in a vamp with 3 chords...
Man Stu has got to be one of the most overrated players ever. Guys like Jeff Berlin, Gary Willis, etc, bury this dude. There is literally nothing interesting about his approach to the bass here
