Greg, art does speak to us, it just doesn't spoonfeed the audience a hyperspecific message constantly. You generally need to think and interpret, rather than being preached to. I'm still early in the video, but Greg talking about Occupy having been a failure reminds me of when I was in a radical used bookstore a while back. There was a book published in 2001-04 or so called something like "How to organize when labor is on the back foot" and it was about how Unions are on the ropes, and disappearing, and how to keep them alive. Next to it was a book about Occupy Wall Street published in 2012 that was basically, "Occupy Wall Street was the first step of the revolution" and it detailed how in the years to come, we would see increased awareness of anti-capitalist talking points, that racial awareness was going to come to the mainstream, that waves of unionization were going to begin to happen, and would bear fruit in about 10 years. It was basically, "Occupy Wall Street won, we just won't see the results right away. Here is a timeline of what is going to happen now." and reading it in 2022, it could have been a history book. So to hear Greg say occupy failed, and it's impossible to organize like that again... It's someone in 1916 Russia saying that when the 1905 revolution was ended, that it meant the Tsar would rule forever.

It's kind of sad that Greg went from this seemingly well-meaning skeptic to this weird shut-in conspiracy theorist.

Slight correction. We do still need to build more homes to address the housing crisis. While it's true that there are more than 5 times as many unoccupied houses and apartments than the number of homeless people, and those houses are owned by the banks who still want to profit off them, those houses are not located in places where people need them. If you're poor, you don't exactly have the means or the money to pick up and move to where there's available housing. It would help to both build new homes closer to where there is highest demand for them, and stop the banks from foreclosing on existing homes. It's a lot like how the US grows more than twice the amount of food necessary to feed everyone, but we still have hunger and malnutrition, because that food can't get to where it's needed. Transport is a major part of food costs, and it's often cheaper for big agriculture to let the food rot in the fields than to pay to have it shipped around. This is why you saw those huge piles of potatoes and other crops sitting there rotting during the height of the pandemic, while store shelves were going empty.
