Funny I remember Weird Al's spin on it more than Kihn's original. Now "Breakup Song" I remember. But hilariously I thought all these years it was a Tom Petty song. lol
If you are an early MTV'er, certain artists live in our hearts from those days. GREG KIHN is one. Greg passed away on Tuesday at 75, after a battle with Alzheimer's.
Saw Eddie Money and Greg in concert at the Bloomsburg (PA) Fair in September 2018. Greg looked and sounded great. 2024 and both are gone. Seems like yesterday I was watching them on MTV as a High School student. I’m pushing 56 and soooooooo many artists I remember are gone. That’s when I realize it wasn’t “Yesterday” it’s over 40 years ago. WOW!!! God Bless all my Gen X brothers and sisters. We lived through the last great decade. So glad I was a kid and teen in the 70’s & 80’s. God Bless.
Damn I hear that loud and clear, 55 here, somedays it seems like it was yesterday but there are somedays this part of my life seems so far away, almost like it was a different life. Take care my fellow Codger lol
RIP Greg Kihn; got a chance to meet him once; funny, positive and down to earth. As 80's as it gets. He did a lot for charity and the San Francisco Bay Area and music industry mourns it's own. A great radio host, podcasters, award winning writer. He could do it all. Thanks Greg! Never forgotten.
Yep, I was thinking about I need to introduce my kids to it cause I don't think they know nothing bout that, lol. This is fire, especially the long version
I graduated from college in 1983. Came home and vegged out, watching nonstop MTV. This song is one of my best memories from that time. RIP Greg Kihn. 🧡🙏
@@stevevargo6554 lol..with some good bourbon and my headphones, im right back in 1983 hanging with the crew going shot 4 shot of some of Jack Daniels finest!!
(... 😢...) One of my first music video memories of watching MTV in the early 1980s. Sad news today, for the MTV Generation. R.I.P. GREG KIHN. Thanks for the great hits and fun videos. "They don't write 'em, like that anymore......."
A fantastic song... Greg understood life and love. May he Rest in Peace. Oh... saw this band perform in Champaign, Illinois. They opened up for Journey. It was 1981, and I went to the concert alone. Got a front row seat from the Box Office! I'll always remember. ❤
Loved that song......most of us have been there....just played that song this year when a lightning storm came....with the words "it's the lightning, not the thunder! ⛈️ You never know when it's gonna strike!" And lightning struck and knocked the power out! Rest in Peace GK..peace and love be with the family!
Brings back so many memories for us 80s kids! No video can top this. Considering this was one of the first, its still more real and entertaining than what came later. Thanks Greg r.i.p.
I'll never forget when MTV first launch back on AUGUST 1,1981 and this was one of their earliest music videos and it was very cutting edge at the time ... Great song,, AWESOME video...R.I.P.-"GREG KIHN"🎸🎵🎶
RIP Greg. He was the only one on a rock based station brave enough to say to reject the rap and hip hop culture as it ruined music and radio. How right he was and is.
Germany here. Early 80th, listening to Yazoo, Depeche Mode, Heaven 17, ABC. But this song, along with Yes's "Owner of a lonely heart", killed it for us. Noone dared to confess, because Kihn's hair "wasn't cool"...
R.I.P. Greg! Thank you for the great soundtrack of music and the early years of MTV. I was 13 years old when this iconic song came out back in 1983 and 41 years later, it's still one of my all-time favorite songs. R.I.P. Greg. 🤍🕊🙏🏽
Loved this song! So fortunate to have caught the Greg Kihn Band a few times around the Bay Area, and Greg at his book signing. He was a talented musician, writer, and DJ but most importantly, he was a great human being who has left a legacy to remember him by. RIP Greg Kihn
Rest in peace, hope every ime song played, you're smiling down from heaven at the joy you brought to everyone hearing jeopardy. there'll never be snother greg kihn.
Damn!!! I remember this song from 1983! I had just graduated from high school! This song was popular during my senior year in high school! Wow! I just tuned 59 on July 5th! Now I do feel old! When the musicians/bands that you listened to in high school start passing on,damn, it kinda hits hard, ya know! I'm like "Am I really that old now!"🤷♀️ Anyway RIP Greg!
I graduated in 1982...Yes.... so many of the singers and band members from the 80's have now passed on.....so sad and so scary.... I wish we could go back to those days😮💨😮💨😮💨
Is it me, or does Greg Kihn's voice sounds like the embodiment of the working man's voice in 80s America? Rest in peace and may you find the enlightened path to peace, prosperity, and nirvana.. God bless his soul!
