Quench means to grieve, make sad, Webster says Quench is "extinguish · put out · snuff out · smother · douse" (like how water puts out fire) so Quenching is any thing that basically has to do with Turning away or turning off, getting rid of. Like if you have three kids in a play ground.. and two are buddies, ignoring the third kid.. the third kid is sad, they put him out of thier group. TO Quench the Spirit means you turn away from it.. you ignore it, you don't want it.. you tell it NO.. get lost, go away. If you Quench the Holy Sprit... it is saying you "pass up the gift of salvation' You choose NOT to have it. Now listen to the video again... what did he just say ? "being satisfied with something less then what God has offered to you" NO.. that is NOT what Quench means ! NOT even remotely close. There is no other "thing" to be satisfied with . He is Not teaching biblically.

I am a born-again believer baptized in the Holy Ghost and this man I have never thought was right there's something not right about him. we definitely are in the last days there are many false teachers . he's making fun the power of the Holy Ghost. it doesn't matter even in a church service or at home when you believe in your heart I received Jesus Christ in my heart your life the holy spirit is powerful and can move your body in to fall it's so great at times.but he is teaching all that is not of God even if evangelist have quirky personalities the Holy Ghost is still going to move in a person who believes because God is perfect he uses the foolish things of this world to confound the wise.

It’s whatever we put first in our life so if we turn away from God to drugs or family or our careers aren’t we essentially telling God “I hear you & your promises but am more interested in this thing right now instead” we are turning and accepting something else that makes us feel good momentarily but never satisfying. That is at some people who claim there is no such thing as being slain in the Holy Ghost. There is, but God is a God of order. His presence brings peace, not chaos and insanity. When one gets slain in the Holy Spirit, they may fall down, lay down, slowly, while feeling the weight of His glory. But they will not shake violently or holler out uncontrollably. In Galatians it speaks of the fruit of the Spirit of God is self control. I see Greg Laurie’s point and that is true in reference to scripture as a whole.

This clip has absolutely no contradiction or even false teaching. We have a God of order, the Holy Spirit will not make people run around, jumping or fall to the ground and start twisting. I give thanks to God for having this great man, Greg Laurie, and that God keep using Greg for Gods plan till Jesus comes back for His church. Amen.
Sorry, folks. Laurie is right. There's NOTHING in the Bible that describes being slain in the spirit. There's nothing that describes rolling on the ground, or writhing around as if you were just shocked by electricity. If there is, please give chapter and verse. Laurie isn't denying the work of the Spirit. He's denying the circus acts people put on in far too many church services.
I have to agree with greg Laurie on this topic. I have listened to Greg Laurie quite a bit. And I agree with most of what he says , not all. Some thing he does and says puzzles me. I noticed that lately he is drifting toward the way TBN is. He associate with Steven Furtick, Rick Warren, Levi Lusko. I'm sad to watch him on the Harvest Crusade in CA. And invite Rap artist, rock and roll bands. Makes me feel like I'm in a secular Rock Concert, can't hear the words of the singer.Will not watch a harvest crusade again.
TBN is Word of faith or NAR garbage.. I don't trust any one who goes on TBN. Word of faith is this movement that has been going on for the past 25 years or so.. its all about UNITY of all beliefs.. toss in some Christian with LDS and catholic and a bit mysticism for special effects.. and you now have teaching that is not found in the Bible.
My friend knows that I am knowledgeable about the Bible (not expert, but knowledgeable). He wrote to Greg about the foolish virgins. Greg told my friend that the wise should have been compassionate to the foolish virgins. If you read the entire parable Jesus (the groom) did NOT show compassion the foolish virgins. Why should the wise be compassionate if the Jesus himself wasn't? The parable is NOT about compassion. It is about the day and hour in which He is to come. If your soul has a little oil and not enough to endure the tribulation that is on YOU! This is a grace period right now: be smart and give up alcohol (to have a sober mind), give up marijuana (to not have an altered mind), give up a lascivious lifestyle (let the flesh die), stop cursing, etc. This is "buying" your oil. Those things please the Lord because you are walking the narrow road. Anyways, Greg was taking the parable out of context and I had to explain to my friend that Greg was wrong.

What was wrong about this? The Holy Spirit glorifies Christ, he testifies of him. He gives you a desire for Jesus, and creates in you a desire to live holy and be faithful to Jesus. He doesn’t knock you out unconsciously or make you run around like madman. He gives you self-control, it’s the fruit of the Spirit. I agree with this Laurie here, those manifestations are not of God.

I am not surprised to hear garbage in the comments. It's sad that people don't read their bibles. And when they do they read it the way they want to hear it. I've done the study and have sat under many pastors that teach similar. i pray in tongues but don't agree with the way its done much of the time in charismatic churches, he's not rebuking tongues, he's repeating the outrageous way people turn non-believers or even fellow believers from receiving spirit, this is why Paul warned us not to pray in the spirit in front of none believer's.
Brother, he said absolutely nothing wrong here. There are deceptive spirits creeping into the church. The disciples warned us ahead of time about them, and if you look up the Kunalini spirit you will see that is one of them that is a false Holy Spirit.

The lord has changed my life and made it his, we accept no other doctrine that isn't his. If it's George Washington throw it out, if it's Hitler throw it out too. The fact that Greg believes in Hitler even though he wasn't alive during that time is an example of why we shouldn't trust him. For he accepts worldly doctrine, that is told in the history books

The problem with Greg Laurie is not this doctrinal teaching in this video, as this teaching here is correct. The problem with Greg Laurie is yoking himself with unrighteous men like ecumenical loving preachers like Rick Warren who is onboard with the One World Religion of Pope Francis . 2 Corinthians 6:14 King James Version (KJV) 14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
I think the title of the video may be due to the person not knowing English too well. It looks like some of their videos are in German. There are other Greg Laurie videos on their page and if they thought his teaching was wrong they would most likely not be there.

the other day I heard him say on the radio.... "We need to invite Jesus into out troubles" I was like HUH... why would you invite him to your troubles.. think on this for a second in human terms.. Me calling up my dad on the phone: "Hey dad I want to invite you come and be part of my pain and suffering, I broke my leg and I can't work for a day or two.. come here now and feel how bad my leg hurts. " See how demanding (and silly) that is.. how much it makes you in control and not the other person. OK... here is what Greg should of said.. When we are experience troubles.. sit back and know you can trust him to guide you thru it. Don't worry , trust in him. Leave God in Control. now in human term.. this is like me calling my dad and say.. "Hey Dad I broke my leg.. I could use some help today with (what ever) can you come and help me with it. " Dad may say yes.. or dad may say no, he has other plans.. but you can't tell your dad to do any thing.. you have to ask and trust that he loves you enough to come when you need him. Are you serious,? I believe he's talking about entering God's rest. When we Face troubles by ourselves that's narcissism. That's not faith. When we co-laborer with God we are inviting God in everything we do good bad or indifferent, he already knows every hair on our head. We have to go boldly to the throne of grace. So maybe he's talking in these euphemisms, or these broad terms that confuse his audience, that's when you need to open your Bible up and rightly divide the truth. It doesn't fall on the pastor it falls on you to rightly divide the truth. And I'm glad that the comments here are referring to some of the heirs that this man is teaching, because it shows at least that people are checking for themselves. And that's all a Good Shepherd a good pastor can teach you. Good expository teaching hermeneutics, suggest, context, historical grammatical, opening up the Bible and reading it, and ensuring the folks that God has given us the privilege to teach that they are able to know the truth from the canonized scripture from the whole counsel of God. I can listen to Joel Osteen probably one of the hugest apostates of this century, and by every word he says I can rightly divide the truth because I know the man is lying. Now do you listen to teachers that are erroneous just to draw the truth from them? No but it secures our ability to rightly divide the truth if we study to show ourselves approved workers on ashamed able to handle the word of God. 2nd Timothy 2:15. So yes, you can make your judgments about whether or not this man is teaching sound Doctrine and there is something to be said about that. But you can't nitpick. If you know the word of God? Then you should be preaching it
What is “wrong” with what Greg taught in that video? I agree with Daniel Ramos. Animal noises, “holy” laughter, falling over when pushed, convulsing on the floor is NOT the Holy Spirit!!! It may be a spirit but it ain’t holy!!!
I attend Harvest Christian Fellowship and Pastor Greg is not a false teacher. He is spot-on with the Bible. And he believes that he is to make disciples of all the world and he will not stop at anything to preach to anyone just as Jesus did
