You can tell Greg puts a lot of thought into it and really doesn't like offending any fans. Which in the end is impossible. Good job Greg. We all find out together.
Cupcake schedule for Ohio St. First test doesn't come until Oct. 12 at Oregon. Their schedule is Oregon, Penn St. and Michigan. Out of 12 games only 3 can be considered real games.
As a GA fan, I'm fine with GA at #2. I agree that our interior D was not very good last year. If our inerior D can step up and perform better than last year, then GA will win the Natty.
@kiingdylan1054 weapons is not a problem. Probably the deepest WR room on the country (notice I didn't say best) the TE room is stacked, and adding Etienne is bug because you will see them go back to throwing to the backs like they did in 2021. Lovett will probably be the true number 1 but adding the transfers gives them a ridiculous amount of weapons. The question is more who will be THE guy l, but there are tons of options
@@kiingdylan1054 Dominic is gonna def be a weapon this next year, yes they may be gone but we also have rara and trevor eitinne also oscar delp has potential to be up there with bowers
Don't necessarily agree with some of the picks but this probably going to be the most interesting season of football in a while, it's going to be paramount for these teams to dodge the injury bug ,that's the one thing in the equation u can't account for, good football every week tho 👏
I knew before I opened this video that he was going to rank Ohio State #1. That schedule is not difficult whatsoever. The game at Oregon is the only legitimately hard game. Ohio State is better than Penn State, and Michigan lost too much talent to be able to beat them. It's a cakewalk to the playoffs.
Michigan sent more talent to the NFL than any other program the past 3 drafts. Everyone gives credit for recruiting but little is being said for development. There are only 4 other schools recruiting like osuCKS right now, Oregon, Texas, Georgia & Bama, the Buckeyes are the only one of the five that haven’t had a 1st round defensive pick since the 2021 draft. Michigan kids are coming & staying 5 years. The “3 & done” mentality has caught up to them in CBus. None of their kids that returns for their senior year strike fear into a team with a pulse. Burke , Sawyer, JTT, Henderson aren’t consistent “game wreckers” for opposing Coordinators. Keep thinking the last 3 were a fluke, you might get that same result for the fourth consecutive season!
Ohio State will once again disappoint. Will have the same issue at QB and Ryan Day is still not a good coach when facing teams who can match them in talent.
Notre Dame has been O-Line U and Tight End U. Look at the recruiting classes, I'm not worried about the tackles being gone. Next man in. Last years offense definetely unachieved and I beleive it was do to the poor OC hire. But yes Denbrock should be a huge upgrade. This year's schedule is weak this year, I hope we can start cycling through the QBs we have, the potenial in our QB room is great. It's time to get them prepped for post Riley Leonard. Defense- Strong. 6 returning starters- Botello, Mills, Cross, Kiser, Watts, Morrison. I think 6 is a good spot, if the Offense gels good, then I think #6 is where Notre Dame will probably end the season. Not a Championship Caliber team just yet, but should make it to the second round of the play offs, and I'm excited about the future. Go Irish.
Will howard's role will be to run for his life after picking the ball up from the dirt because his center is bad and the rest of the OLine isn't much better, and try to toss short passes to his RB's because they can't get any momentum behind that LOS. tOSU is loaded everywhere except Oline and they will come up short again because of it despite having all the talent every where else.
As a Ole Miss fan I’m just humbled to be in this convo If we make the playoff I’ll be stoked Can’t thank Coach Kiffin and his staff enough for what they have done in Oxford
Yes Bucky Irving was huge but a lot of people forget that Noah Whittington was our #1 back last year before he went down and Bucky stepped up so with Jordan James being back with Noah I see them in a very similar spot in the backfield
I agree with you,Missouri was a very good team last year if they didn't lose many key players from last year they will be tough to beat.and by the way I'm a Bama fan.
No teams in the SEC, BIG10, or the ACC should have any cupcake non-Conference games!! They added teams to form powerhouse Conferences so play the games!!!
They would be crazy to do that while the Big12 exists. Would the playoff committee put a 9-3 Big10 team in over a 11-1 Big12 team with a far inferior schedule? Same with the SEC not playing 9 conference games - why should they until they know absolute superior SoS matters to the committee?
On neutral sites i just don't see Notre Dame beating Ole Miss or Missouri and probably not even Tennessee. iF the Fightin Irish are Top10 then they're #10 🐘🏈
I honestly tried my best to DISLIKE, Gerg! But….i have to be real, you CAN NOT dislike the guy, he speaks all facts and knows his stuff. I’m a Tennessee guy, and I guess it’s bc he played for Bama, still doesn’t matter, because this guy is 100% correct with everything he says! Dude is right on it. I have to respect, Gerg! Even though he deserved it from the beginning. Just wanted to say that I apologize…
Just wake me when the Bryce Underwood (LSU stud QB in ‘25) versus DJ Lagway (Florida stud QB no later than ‘25) heavyweight fight starts. Might wound up being pay-per-view
Every conference should be 9 game conference with a College Football Commissioner picking similar out of conference opponents record wise over a five year window, which is what Fox Sports Joel Klatt mentioned in the new era of College Football. I would love to see them have a matchup with Clemson/Florida State (ACC), Tennessee/Texas/Oklahoma/Ole Miss (SEC), and Utah/Arizona/Oklahoma State (Big 12) as some of the likely opponents for Penn State football.
Lol. Golding had only been at Ole Miss one season. These players are better than in his first year sounds a lot better than since he has been at ole miss
@@brettk9316 yeah they lose to the only two good teams on their schedule and beat up the cannon fodder that makes up most of the rest of the Big10. That's why they always finish outside the top 10. No quality wins.
Great segment Greg. The only switch I would make is I'd put Georgia #1, Oregon #2 and OSU at 3. Why, OSU's QB is a bit unproven and I think Oregon stacks up everywhere else on the field and will likely beat the Buckeyes in there head to head. They will likely meet again in the B1G championship game, which will be a barn burner and a narrow victory for the Ducks if they stay healthy. Way too early but I've got UGA and Oregon playing in the Natty.
@@kevcambridge5910 Three times in two years. But Texas lost to WA in the same two years (twice), as did every other ranked team that faced them but Michigan. Don't judge everything by one game.
How do you consider Carson Beck the top QB when the only thing he better last year then Sanders was have an extra 500 passing yards. Sanders had 3,125 27tds and only 3 interceptions, Carson Beck had 3,941 passing yards 24tds and 6 interceptions and he played for GEORGIA that team is stacked with 5⭐️ Sanders got sacked 52 times and still put up better numbers then Beck I mean are we going to speak facts or what?
@@EulogyfortheAngels Well no S*** Sherlock, Colorado was a rebuilding team last year coach primes very First 1st year. You’re comparing a Georgia Team with multiple plus Years to revamped Colorado team. You people are mentally insane I swear.
Beck is just a better QB. Stats aren’t everything. But Beck had better stats than Sanders as well. 700 more passing yards, better completion percentage, much higher QBR, and was only sacked 11 times compared to Sanders’ 52 sacks. And Beck faced MUCH better competition and still performed better than Sanders most of the season. I will agree that sacks are an OL stat ultimately, BUT it’s also a QB’s job to get rid of the ball and not take a sack in a lot of situations. Beck has far better awareness than Sanders in those situations. He’s just better. Doesn’t mean Sanders isn’t a good QB. He’s probably still going to go in the top 15 of the NFL Draft. He’s just not the best QB in CFB in 2024. That’s Carson Beck.

@@RadicallyOptimistic For real, no idea what this person is talking about when Ohio State and Penn State were the only two tough games on their own schedule
Michigan started with East Carolina, UNLV, and Bowling Green last year. Not even a fan of a team in the Big 10, but your lack of self awareness is astounding
Bama fans need to look at their team objectively. Nick Saban is the best head coach of all time. Anyone else is a downgrade. On top of that Bama has one of the best rosters in the country BUT its not as good as it was 5 years ago. That being said with a downgrade in talent and a downgrade at HC its totally reasonable to expect a dropoff. They won't fall off a cliff but its not impossible to see a 3 loss bama at the end of the year which would be the most since 2010
Texas is NOT a top 5 team as long as Sark and sEwers are on the team...we proved that against Washington! Yeah, we have some amazing dudes on the team that look so great on paper, but when pads hit and the ball is thrown in the air? We haven't had a secondary for 4 years now, and Sark is known to flounder and flail against superior-coached teams (we all know Bama with a more seasoned Milroe would have wiped the floor with us by the end of the year!)...we're going 9-3 at best this year, which should net us around a 10-12 ranking...
Yet, you still beat Bama at Bama. Stop it.. Your good everywhere else except your secondary. Improve that a little bit and start putting up the points, you'll be fine.. I think you'll go 11-1, 10-2 at worst.
We need better coaches on the defensive side sure. Blake Gideon? laughably bad....but our offense give us a chance in every game. We will be in the playoffs
@@gwhite7136 nah, Sark is a flounder. He peaked with that season. And Ewers can't throw over 20 yds. He's not the best at decisions either. Beating Bama at Bama is cool but they were mid at that point for Bama. B12 is not SEC. To guarantee a playoff spot you need to be top 2 in conference. Probably 3rd in SEC is ok. Lots of good teams to play, Bama and GA will be good. They play a big game in MI too. They take a step back from last year.
Denbrock is a very good play caller. Kelly was looking to elevate Sloan to share duties with Denbrock. Denbrock didn't like it. I was okay with the departure of Denbrock because Sloan and Hankton are incredible recruiters and Sloan gets less respect than Denbrock for how he was able to make Daniels a better player. Beck is not going to post as big as numbers this year. Receiver loses and more big games will drive his numbers down. He played like garbage in the Bama game so I am not sure about his big game ego. All the love for Nico is crazy to me. I guess I will have to see....
This man's SEC bias is to hard to hide. Can't stand his takes. Almost disagree with everything he says. Every SEC team he mentions, he sings their praises. Every other conference he talks about, its "bold" or maybe to "bullish". Josh Pate and Joel Klatt are the only real podcasters the put their bias away and spit facts.
Mizzou, PSU, ND, etc ahead of Michigan is jsut asinine. I thought McElroy knew ball, but this is just the same regurgitate bad media take the other bozos spew. Michigan has a better defense and only “questions” at QB…A position that is historically not all that critical for Michigan. First it was “JJ is just a game manager”, now the media acts like defense and the run game isnt what always carries Michigan. Michigan will be a top 8 seed in the playoffs, book it.
I don’t disagree with that top and think it’s reasonable. But I don’t see 5 sec teams finishing the season ranked in top 10. There is no way the CFP will put 5 teams from the sec in playoff. The rest of the country will cry too much.

Nick Saban ran the defense at Alabama. It was his scheme and his plan every week for 17 years. If you want to see how Golding would have run the defense if he had been allowed, go watch the 2020 Auburn game. With Saban at home not able to interfere, Golding put on a clinic and destroyed Auburn. He is doing the same thing as Ole Miss.
@@MyBohemianDreams except Bama hired Steele and there was an immediate, obvious improvement with all returning players. Steele himself said it's Saban's defense. You do realize that even in a HC's scheme, the DC does actually have to do stuff, right? A lot of the positive from Golding's time at Ole Miss is partly based on his abject failures at Bama lol. He wasn't ready for the job at Bama. At least he's learning.
currently standing this year has more top 150 recruits (12-9)(closer on some recruiting sites but still ahead) than sabans last class and there is at least a few more coming. this might be one of bamas better classes ever
A top 10 without Michigan in it is a worthless list. Notre Dame at 6??!! When do the golden domers ever have to prove it on the field against top teams before they get ranked high purely based on their historical brand. Let me know when Marcus Freeman becomes anything more than a good recruiter. Unbelievable!
Where would you rank Notre Dame? If you give me a rank outside the top 10 I'll know that you're retarded when it comes to informed college football assessments
Cheatigan lost their HC, almost their entire staff, QB, RB1, entire OLine, a ton of seniors and stars and most importantly their Cheater-in-Chief. Take off your maize n blue glasses, homer
As a Buckeye fan I would have them third, Oregon second and Georgia first. If OSU beats Oregon on the road I would move them to first. With a new QB and OC they have to show something first.
As another Ohio State fan, I think you are incorrect! Ohio State is soooooooo loaded to have Ohio State #3, behind Oregon, and Georgia! Really! Ohio State should win the National Championship this year! 🌰🏈
One new QB is playing the matchup at home and another on the road. One QB is working in an offense with a new OC. Despite that, I see Chip Kelly as a huge plus for Ohio State and believe there is a good chance Ohio State will win the Natty. But to take it for granted that two important pieces like QB and OC couldn't encounter some problems early on is too much for me. I want to see where things stand.
@johnbochenek5526 I don’t disagree but your post was about OSU being ranked 3rd behind ORE and the only reason you gave was a new QB and OC. Does a team’s ranking suffer bcuz they will be the road team?
We saw how good FSU was without Travis last year. Now remove Keon Coleman and other major players. They'll have a great defense and tons of question marks on offense, just like Michigan.

Why is that? They had a good year last year but a lot of games could have gone either way and if the ball bounces a different way on those games they are looking at another 6-6 season. Now their schedule is very weak this year, so a lot like last year but wouldn’t call them a title contender.
I wouldn’t have them that high but they’re definitely in a better spot than Michigan. DeBoer is a proven coach and Alabama has much more talent than Michigan. Michigan lost a ton of production
@@dallasmorrow21 is that all that matters? Bc last time I checked Michigan was the deepest team in the country last year and the current HC beat Penn state and Ohio state last year, and then Michigan went on to beat both Alabama and Kalen Deboer
@@reyganwhitt3738 you keep referring to last year. The rankings are for this coming season. While history can give some inclination into what the team is gonna be moving forward, it can’t be all that you rely on. Michigan lost a ton of its production, mostly on the offensive side of the ball. The defense will still be really good, but there was a large turnover in the coaching staff. Sherrone Moore is a first time HC (yes he stepped up as interim HC but that is vastly different than running the entire program). Michigan hasn’t recruited at an elite level to replenish its ranks. Yes, they develop well, but that remains to be seen for the new starters. All of these things are why Michigan is getting dinged in the rankings. And to be honest, none of it matters. If Michigan wins games, they’ll move up
@@reyganwhitt3738 "Michigan was the deepest team in the country last year" - correct, and they just lost nearly their entire offense. "The current HC beat Penn State and Ohio State" - being a weekly interim on relative cruise control is not the same thing as actually running a program with a brand new staff you had to hire. "and then Michigan went on to beat both Alabama and Kalen Deboer" - You're right! Since Deboer is at Bama now, that means that they'd beat Alabama TWICE AS BAD in 2024, right?! Texas won't do what they did last year. Step down from then. They won in Tuscaloosa but let's be honest, Bama wasn't Bama yet...they developed well over the year but not that good for their par when they lost to Horns. They had a good year in a lesser conference and lost to Washington who couldn't really hang with MI. I think they probably have a 60% chance to make the playoffs but won't be a top 5.

Alabama will win a championship in the first 3 years. I don't want to sound crazy saying this. But, I think Alabama will be better under Kalen DeBoer than the last few seasons under Saban. The coaches Saban brought in were not great the last few seasons and Nick is not some guru of on field coaching. He was the best because of his ability to be the CEO and recruit like a mad man. I never saw him as an elite X's and O's guy. Kalen DeBoer is a better X's and O's guy. Kalen has done more with less his whole career. I don't think people realize how bad it's going to be to play against Kalen DeBoer with Alabama's level of talent/player. He's a great scheme guy. It won't just be Alabama running you over with talent. They'll be able to outcoach you and run you over at the same time. Alabama will be scary going forward under this staff as long as they can maintain a top 10 recruiting class consistently and that is looking very likely.
Agree with you for some of this. Saban was also a master of culture, discipline, and dealing with the off field politics and boosters of a big stage. Those are things we haven't really had to see from KD yet. If he can nail that quickly he's going to be OK. The Bama divas on the team and in the booster box are a different animal from Washington
