Thank God there are no longer hub rails. Seen nasty accidents like that. Also violation in kicking horse with foot on backstretch. Back in my day long time no drive.
Let’s admit the guy who ran into Marcus Miller doesn’t drive every day but blatantly pushed Doyle Hanover to the inside. Major fine for that an suspension from driving. It could have been a dangerous situation.
Suspension from driving for 5yrs was upheld in an appeal. Further detrimental conduct resulted in revocation of all participation by the United States Trotting Association! Case closed!
I respect you opinion. However, suppose he stuck a wheel under you horse, and you go off stride. He cost you a check. Now suppose he stuck a wheel under you and the driver goes down and brakes an arm, leg, collar bone, now he has no income and medical expenses. Suppose the horse goes down and gets injured, at $2400 a month ( that's what my trainer charges per month per horse) now I have to pay a vet bill and training bill, with no income. Do you think if he has no regard for a horse as he drives, you think he's a great trainer?
Off of that subject and onto another. Everyone who knows Colin Kelly knows hes the best talent on a bike not driving in the biggest races. Should owners and trainers worry about his attitude. Ps im just stoned and bored.
Rules keep me from etting to riled. I'm disabled from numerous injuries from my harness racing career. That was intentionally done by the driver on the outside. 1000lb horse's going 30mph+ is no place 2 carry jealousy! Driver of the 2horse should be fined no less than 5k & suspended from driving for 1yr. Glad nobody was injured by the reckless actions. GO TO RACING FOR A GOOD TIME & SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL TRACK!
I have gone to Yonkers for years some 50 miles away but my night vision has gotten bad so I can only go on the rare daylight meet which is now only the International trot-wish they had more daylight meets. Miller BTW did they right thing in going inside the pylons. That would have been a bad accident with the old hubrails.
Sorry to hear your unable to get to a track anymore Mr.Glen. RTN offers all races run daily for about $10 per month. This sport can't afford to lose another generation of fans! You will also be able to see the big races on this site!
All that for a 3.5 shot to win. This is so easy to fix these harness races are so crooked. But not in this race ...WHY THE WINNER PAYED WHAT 2.80 CENTS TO WIN NOTHING FIXED HERE CANT BE.
I am not saying they are not fixed at all but drivers getting together to plan the finish is very very rare and it's because of a couple of things- Gural at Meadowlands has done a lot to help clean it up, second, the purses are much better so just winning or getting part of the purse makes drivers and owners try to win or get a piece of the top 5. What does not seem right is the handful of trainers who own the vast majority of entries.
Not just Gural, State and fed's have also did a good job of getting the crooks. A few years ago it was sickening with two to three trainers winning every race nearly and the fan getting $2.20 back on the fav's. For a two dollar bettor, it made it hard with six and ten dollar exactas when we bet $1 wheels etc.
