I can't believe this only from 2007 because this sounds like modern IGN reviews as well.

Game reviews used to be so long-winded and overly detailed, I'm glad they've been shortened.

That review seemed fine. I miss those old style reviews, they needed to be so detailed because any video of a game that wasn't just a trailer was hard to come by back then.

Hahah, this is absolute gold! Man, tell me there are more of these that Greg and Colin did back in the day. I'm not sure Colin wrote anything as hammy but I'd love to hear one of his "classic" reviews too. How far your guys have come! Awesome.

I don't think this review is that bad lol. Sure, there's some unnecessary stuff in there but I feel that modern game reviews have gone too far in the other direction, where now they often lack detail. I can't tell you how often I read a review of a new game and feel like it wasn't informative enough, so I have to go watch videos on the thing to try and get greater clarity on the reviewer's general, broad opinion. When you had those long reviews with objective detail in them you got a lot more out of it, if you were willing to read the thing. I think a happy medium could be found. Or perhaps, if a reviewer wants to write a lengthy review of more than 2 pages, just have them also provide a condensed one page summary that's the length of a modern IGN review. Then, if you end up in the situation I described above and desired clarity, you could read the full-length review.

funny. yesterday i remembered a game i was interested in playing but didn't get to. i am alive. i looked up a video review to see how ign scored it. Greg reviewed it and holy shit, its fucking hilarious how brutal he was on it

Anyone else feel like topics across shows are weirdly unfocused recently? Half the time I'm watching a video it seems like I've dozed of somewhere in the middle and don't know what the hell they're talking about.

Never cared for IGN type reviews. The number value system is very inconsistent and they are pretty generic. I go to places like ACG for solid reviews that cover what a gamer needs to know in order to make an informative decision. IGN reviews are for people who just need a number to justify their decisions.
