One of the better sketchbooks, not because of colorful fantastical stuff like most others, but because of sheer dedication that clearly shows!! Great inspirational sketchbook, when you need that push, seeing magnificently executed finished pieces just doesn't cut it, at least not for me, but flipping through a SB of someone who's not afraid to just DRAW, does! Thank you both Greg and Matt!! Peace
These sketchbook videos are great for seeing where I stand and which direction I should head. Kudos for taking the time to show these amazing glimpses of the artists and animators.
This is my favorite sketchbook video i've seen so far. Portrait art is a favorite of mine and I am absolutely amazed at the detail he can put into these subway pieces while still keeping it simple. Absolutely beautiful work! I have to get one of those mini sketchbooks and work on gesture poses and portraits.
these videos always get me drawing i watch the first few minutes of these sketchbooks and i have to pause and grab my own to doodle some gesture drawings or still life or anything really. just super amazing.
Matthew, I got the membership of drawing-tutorials-online and I got to say all the content that I saw by far, your lessons (videos) is just a Masterpiece man!!! For me it really worth it! Thanks for the job you doing its amazing! Marcelo Meyer.
Hi I'm a foundation student of Emily Carr University in Vancouver. Your sketchbook videos are amazing ! I was inspired so much. Thanks for making these videos. You guys are all genius
I wanted to look at the big black SB he was resting the ones he was presenting on! It just screamed look at me! ;) great art, makes me wanna draw while commuting. :)
I already do draw a lot, I meant that it makes me want to go to school even more than I already do. :D I am working on my portfolio to submit to the university in my city. I really want to go, so I hope that I can get in. I like looking at these videos and other videos, because it is inspiring to see other people's work. They just make me even more excited to go.
It's this video that made me train even harder at drawing and do different styles, so I could draw people on the bus or on the subway (what a weird goal...xD).
Hey Matt ... when should you employ those chicken scratches and when should you employ the more continuous line ? Are these sketchbooks done with chicken scratches or not ?
You should do caricatures in amusement parks. It's very easy to get a job all you have to do is prove that you can draw well in a short amount of time. I have a friend that does it and it was her first job xD.
Ppl always ask how I can draw on a moving bus because it bounces like subway trains and I can never answer them because I have no idea. I guess I just get the feel of the bus, know when its gonna move and get in the zone... I can't explain it very well...
its a youtube thing of seeing the amount of people who dislike this video for example if you are watching a music video and it has like 2,000 likes and 500 people dislike it you say like "500 people don't have taste" in that sense.
pretty good stuff.. .I think his clothing is better than his faces... love the shadow details but let's not go crazy thinking he's the next coming of renoir!
Oh yeah, I wish there was a instructor like matt here in OK HELL. I am community college and the last drawing II instructor was a joke. I can draw from life and what see perfectly. She could not do that. I made a 73 in that waste.
