@Raul Salazar The person he is definitely has an impact on what he believes. Take it or leave it but that's who he is and doesn't give a fuck about any objections towards it. I still appreciate him.
Pop sounds like a proud "Dad" speaking about Tim Duncan, this is who Steve Kerr learned from and this is why Kerr is so extra special to Golden State. Pop is human and Kerr is human and that's what sets them apart from simply earning paycheck. They're both special human beings in professional sports and it shows!
Love that Pop got deep enough to reference Gore Vidal. Can't imagine the bond between Tim and Pop, something we should all aspire to with our close friends, to stand by with and grow with, through thick and thin.
I can't think of a more selfless coach than Pop. Whenever he's asked about his success his answer is pretty much the same, some answer along the lines of "the key is to draft Tim Duncan and get out the way"
Jordan, Kobe, LeBron and other truly great alpha-male "legends" probably would listen to this or Tim's HOF induction speech and clearly realize how obviously they didn't match up to this level of class as human beings and as supportive teammates. You don't hear people who worked with them speak of them in these terms. It doesn't mean that they were "bad". It's just nice to hear these kinds of qualities that far transcend the basketball court being rightly lauded.
take Lebron out and putt Dirk in. Dirk was Dallas for 21 years, Timmy 19 years and The black mamba 2 decades with 1 team. There is no space for guys who changes teams like underwear. Period end of story.
@@svenkreuzberg2274 You read the post wrong. Jordan and Kobe were total assholes that earned the respect of their peers but were never loved like this. Phil Jackson retired twice because they were impossible to work with, players left their teams to get away from them, dynasties splintered because of their egos. Jordan and Kobe were, elite, incredible players but the quality of their character is not what anyone remembers about them.
@@marvinschmid Pop ran a helluva plantation system in San Antonio but it was a dynastic team for decades. You could depend on the Spurs being there year in and year out
@Mason McCann speculation, Horace Grant snatched down 22rbs against the Bad Boy Pistons, that's what enabled Chicago and MJ to win their first three peat. Rodman's rebounding prowess in the second three peat. Randolph Childress, Tim Duncan and Wake Forest Demon Deacons of the Dave Odom era were a top five team perennially in the NCAA at that time.: Rodney Rogers, Delaney Rudd,AnthonyTeachey, Frank Johnson, Danny Rudd, Kenny Greene, Randolph Childress, Reggie Rutland, why they weren't able to win an NCAA chip, I'll never know.
@@NoCopyrightMusicsss No. Communism is a stateless, classless, utopian dream of the world. No nations, no elites, everyone functioning in harmony. Ask Pop or any non-right winger if they actually think that is achievable or what they’re advocating for. The answer will be no across the board. That’s why calling everyone to your left a commie is beyond stupid
