Mozart: Don Giovanni - Finale Don Giovanni: László Polgár, Leporello: József Gregor, Commendatore (Kormányzó): Kolos Kováts Conductor: János Kovács A három basszus koncertje - Budapest Kongresszusi Központ - 1995
Oui.
Three of the best basses in the world - and if I'm not wrong - they're all Hungarian. Must be the goulash. Kovats is particularly impressive. I sang the Commendatore myself but while It was a success, it wasn't nearly as good as Kovats - but who is?. This is just about the best version I've ever heard. I have the whole of the Don Giovanni in electronic form on RU-vid. Hundreds of people have downloaded it. I'm going to look up Kovats videos on RU-vid.
They Székely Mihály, Polgár László and Gregor József were amoung the best of them, but there have been a lot of them wonderder basses, for instance Rene Pappe!
@@purisermonisamator Well, someone who has played/sung Leporello should know the part of Don Giovanni perfectly as well, as he's on stage with him most of the time and he must have done most of the rehearsals together. I know when I worked in the theatre I knew all the other's parts by heart. We all did, without trying, since we heard them and watched them every night (of course opera has fewer performances, compared to theatre).
