Nowadays people don’t know how big reggae was at that time in England . This was the people’s music and it cut across all races even without mainstream radio play . It was in the late 80’s when hip hop and house kinda pushed reggae out and the reggae scene got more insular . Maybe the crack epidemic had a role . I miss these days when you could get a £5 draw if Jamaican sensi and a beer and you were set

It was so crowded. A lady next to me has her necklace pulled from her neck. I grabbed the guys arm and he smiled at me and looked back. He had already passed it off to another guy smiling at me with the chain in his hand. It cut the ladies neck. Very heavy and dangerous atmosphere. We left with the lady and her friend and went to a pub far away.
