It's incredible how, after almost hundred years of her stardoom in hollywood, her face take our breath away.....I have just started to read her bio, and a big admires of her already.... Great Woaman, a Wild Orchide....
Dear MonroeSmile, I'm 52 yo and I've been a huge Garbo's admirer since my adolescence (incidentally,I was born on 18 September, like her). I've just come across your tribute and I've found it az mesmerising and uncunny as her face. I congratulate you on you exquisite choices.
The music, the tone, and the still mythical Garbo. This is beautiful. I often wonder what her elusive, raw, unrivalled beauty would have done to today's cinema.
One of the true goddesses of the 7th art, she was strong and vulnerable at the same time, so divine and yet so human... I love her. Such a heartfelt tribute, Claudia (great choice of music too, it really captures that tragic sense of life that Garbo could express with just one look).
This is one of the best tributes I have seen. You really portray Garbo in the way we all know her: the untouchable goddess with The Face. Because if anybody had or will ever have a face, it was Garbo, no doubt... Great video!!
QUESTA MUSICA , È VERAMENTE ECCELSA PER QUESTA CREATURA DI UN LIVELLO SUPERIORE A TUTTO E A TUTTI , I SUOI OCHI , IL SUO SGUARDO , LA SUA FCCIA , IL SUO CORPOL'INSIEME FINALE DELLA VERA BELLEZZA UMANA !!!!! ETERNAMENTE GARBO !!!!!!!!!!! DIVINA D'OLTREOCEANO !!! Da SEMPRE E PER SEMPRE !!! IO T'AMO , ROSY . 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
It is not easy to make a video for these great personalities of cinema! Greta Garbo is a true icon! Loved by men and women, had nothing to envy of other women. But her life was characterized by sadness and melancholy! I think it was rarely happy and in his moments of happiness, she have lived it fully. You have captured the essence and feelings of Greta Garbo with this video! See it carefully, to understand the beauty and majesty of this remarkable woman! Great music and editing!! Excellent!
What can I say, but to be silent, and just so very moved by this tribute. Music and Filmfragments so smoothly put together...simply beautiful..thanks for sharing this. You must have been very inspired. I whish you well in all you do.
Thank you MonroeSmile for the e-mail pertaining to this priceless video compilation. I know in our busy lives that we sometimes forget to thank others for being kind, and sharing with us. Hopefully that isn't the case in my personality. I thank you very much, and will always look forward to timeless classics such as this. God bless you, and others that took the time to read my post! Psalms 121:8
This is a truly beautiful work that you have done. Thank you for sharing it with us on RU-vid, and I hope that you keep it here forever. Again, I thank you!
You have made my heart ache. This is a beautiful job. TCM must hire you. Or at the very least, the Academy Awards. Their memorial of stars' passing, suck!!!! There's no heart or feeling to their montage. You've got it.
This tribute appeared precisely when I'm in the mood for Greta! Her beauty never ceases to amaze me, everytime I see her I can't believe that such beauty existed. I adore this video, Claudia! So many Garbo's close-ups, a pure delight, and in the end one of my favourite pictures! Thank you!
In 2009, actress Luise Rainer, almost 100 years old, spoke about Greta Garbo: "She was so beautiful ..." Did you meet Garbo? '' Not very intimately, but yes. I always thought that after Nefertiti she was the most beautiful creature in the world. "
Also wanted to add that I finally got to see your Joan crawford video (I couldn't before because it was blocked and the files you sent me didn't work either)! So so happy!!!!! Thank you so much! My mum saw your videos and she was really impressed, especially with the Gene Tierney one, she fell in love with her!
Finally a video! It was love at first sight for me (and also for Friedrich March) when seeing Garbo's reflection in the mirror on the train then coming out of it in "Anna Karenina". She drove me to tears in Camille!!!! You have amazing editing and musical talents, don't ever let go of them!!! Tons of love, Stephanie. xoxo
Of course. Having your name prominently featured DOES make sense to protect your hard work. With that said...your work is EXCELLENT and I have shown your Rita Hayworth clip to other people. Great job!!!! You've inspired me to create my own montage. If it's only half as good as what you've done... Think I'll subscribe to your channel.
I've been waiting for this for ages, and it did not disappoint. I love that choice of song and the close ups were just from another world. Goosebumps and everything... thank you for sharing Claudia :)
YOU MUST ME PSYCHIC! We were just playing the Enchanted Boy song this very afternoon. This was a class-act, so instinctive and emotive. She just had a GREAT face & spirit that needed no frills/makeup. I love her famous "privacy" too. Apparently the last scene of Queen Christina, she didn't know how to play it, and the director said "Just think of breakfast" - you prob know that bit of trivia but I love that! She was so luminous and fascinating, watching her think of breakfast is classic cinema
I am so happy to hear you say this. It means a lot, and I'm glad you understood the editing with the music, as I know some people could find this a bit boring. She really was astonishing in every way.
I Watch this again with amazement - it's so incredibly well done. With the selection of the music and the obviously carefully edited sequences of wonderful scenes that are so RIGHT in their succession of each other. And in almost a sort of mysterious way, we understand why she truly was called the divine. As the character Lewis Stone once remarked: "She was Greta Garbo and that said it all. She stood alone. There were none like her." There are many videos like this on RU-vid - but this one also "stands alone".
holyyyyyy smoke i feel so much. that was very real, and very much in alignment with her entire legacy and being, not just pictures of her face. i love the quote, it meant so much..thank you. these videos may seem like hobbies or simple indulgences, but there are times when they touch us, and help us to know ourselves. thank you for that
When watching her is seem like movies were invented just to capture her, and that everything that has ever been filmed since has been an attempt to recapture or rediscover that magic, without ever achieving it I know thats a big statement, and I WORSHIP a handful of others, but as Kate Hepburn herself said, Garbo had something that nobody else has ever had
A wonderful tribute - with Greta Garbo it is always the eyes that capture my attention. There is something hidden there... something tragic and beautiful at the same time.. she is the most magnetic of actresses. Thank you for the artistic assembly and soundtrack...Maybe you should start a new channel called Garbo Eyes! The way you do these tribute is its own art form.
From the few I have seen - I really need to brush up on my silent era - Flesh and the Devil with Garbo and Gilbert is brilliant, Camille with Alla Nazimova and Rudolph Valentino. The most touching silent I ever saw was Broken Blossoms with Lillian Gish and Richard Barthelmess - it was beautiful and very moving.
to the video maker:-) ; hi my name is tony i lived across the street at river house where greta lived on 52nd street. she lived across the street from me. in 1975 when i was 11 years old i use to play across the street and i use to see her all the time. my dad told me she was a famous actress all long time ago. sometimes she would stop and ask what i was playing. she always was very sweet to me. i remember now she was still a beautiful woman. then she must have been 70. she seemed mysterious.
Ahh yes. Swanson even says after that line, 'There just aren’t faces like that anymore. Maybe one - Garbo.' Something like that anyway. Thanks for watching!
TRULY:-) THIS MORTAL WOMAN NOT THEN NOT NOW HAVE I EVER SEEN WITH THIS MUCH PERFECTION EQUALLED IN ACTING OR UNDENIABLE BEAUTY AT THE SAME TIME HAS ANYONE COME EVEN CLOSE. WITH THIS COMBINATION THERE IS ONE NAME THAT WILL ALWAYS STAND ALONE AT THE TOP. THANK GOD WE CAPTURED THIS ON FILM. THANK GOD HE SHARED AND MADE GRETA GARBO FOR US.:-) WOW IS ALL I ALWAYS SAY:-))))
hi tony here, yes one winter day i was on my big wheel on the circular side walk it was about 11 30 am or so and i was riding it and i drove by her apt building going past her building and she must have seen me and she called out my name like the 3rd or 4th time having interactions with her. she said to me gosh in sweden we didnt have anything that looks that fun when i was your age. i remember stopping while talking to her she had amazing facial symetry i remember.
All music information for my videos is stated in the 'About' box beneath the video. For this particular one, the track is 'Ascension' from the Moulin Rouge! soundtrack.
@MegRamseyWebseries In response to your first comment, working for TCM or the Academy Awards would be a dream, but will never happen unfortunately lol. And about my name, I wish I didn't have to have it so bold either. But I have noticed with other people's names as watermarks on their video, they are too reduced to be noticeable, making it easier for people to steal the video or clips and pass them off as their own. It's unfortunate, but I'd rather have it obvious than used by another. Sorry x
Very nice, live was beautifull, if you knew what to do with it and found love, have children, you didn't! Therefore, you had nothing to do with it without the movies, but still inspire love!
I do believe she was so stunning but perhaps the most stunning image that reakly caught my breath was the one of her sitting wearing a beret.. at least i rhink it was a beret. :) stunning woman, stunning actress,
Would you please post what music you used for the sound track for your fine video here. I believe I heard the melody at the end to a song I think is called "The Greatest Love," but I am not sure . I would like to find this arrangement on rhapsody. Perhaps you can tell me where you found it as well. Thanks
