I bought that same guitar in the fall of last year. I was up till 3 a.m. last night playing it. It's so different from any of my other guitar's. My 1st Gretsch. Love it.
I bought a Gretsch 5420TG on Craigslist. It’s a 2018 made in Korea version with a rosewood fretboard. Black finish with gold hardwear. Electromatic. Bought it in 2022 with a TKL case for $700. I didn’t love the Filtertron pickups. Upgraded to TV Jones Classic. It’s a guitar I’ll keep for life. Sounds and feels fantastic. I love the middle position and playing with the volume balances between the pickups. It’s just great for hard rock, country, blues. Neck pickup with a Tubescreamer pedal has incredible tone. I record with it and it sounds like a $3000 high end Gretsch.
In 2015 when I bought my Double Anniversary G6117T-HT new, the Electromatic line was worlds apart! Fast Forward to today and I just bought the same guitar in Cadillac Green new! It's made in Korea with a rosewood fingerboard and has really closed the Gap with the professional series. I love it. I found an Aleutian Blue Electromatic Jet G5220 at a pawn shop for $500 CDN and in Canada Kijiji is more popular than Craigslist. I bought a 2014 Godin HSS Session VS in mint condition for only $550 CDN. So yes I do buy on the classifieds.
I have a 5427T (about the same thing), and I've found the high strings can get a bit ice pick sounding on bright clean stuff. Going to move those blacktops with an adapter kit over to an LTD EC-401VF to replace the Duncans in there. The bite of the blacktops will go great with the LP style build of that guitar for dirty work. Going to put proper Filtertrons in the Electromatic. Thanks for the video, good work :)
I bought my first guitar on Facebook marketplace. Drove down the shore and picked it up from the dude, was in good shape and set up, not that I knew the difference. Ez pz lemon squeezy lmao. Now that I'm an old grizzled guitarist I bought another one on reverb that's newer and better, more comfortable to play. But that's how I knew the first one was set up, cuz the new one definitely wasn't! It's getting done now, though. I'm super happy with both experiences. Hopefully I'll give someone else a good experience when I sell off my first guitar since it fills the same kinda role as the new one!
@@MichaelGrecoGuitar another prs lol. S2 mcarty thinline. It's super comfortable to play. I was shedding the other guitar today and couldn't be clean at the same tempos so that makes me even happier with the new axe!
Never bought any guitars off cl. I bought a guitar off eBay that the guy wrapped in paper and of course the headstock broke! So I sent it back for a refund and he got mad at me like it was my fault 🤣
Awwwwwwwe damn Dave that stinks. Yea, you can find some great deals, but have to expect some nonsense sometimes. Would love to check out your pedals! Gotta have you over when all this mess calms down.
