I have this guitar and to get a decent tone the signal chain gets really crazy. One vst that helps a lot to get definition on the low frequencies is Gullfoss live, I pair it with Saturn from Fabfilter. That goes into any neural DSP sim and sounds a lot better than the direct input. Great video!
I also was looking for the Gretsch g5260 in Jade Metallic but settled on the Bristol Fog. To my surprise I loved the Bristol Fog ….a beauty. Thanks for the setup tips as I’m taking my low string to 100 also.
Finally got to see Loathe in person at Sick New World here in Vegas. 🔥 I’ve been addicted to this tone since. Very interested in hearing what new pickups would unlock for this guitar!
great review, and agreed on a lot of those points, pickup height can help a bit (you can cut up a mouse pad to raise the height) and also use a screwdriver to raise the pole pieces i found there's quite a bit of sympathetic ringing (above the nut and below the bridge) but that's easy enough to deal with i settled for now on a drop F# setup with light strings that really helps for clarity i think too
I bought 28" scale baritone and from the first moment i knew that it will be my all time type of guitars. This Gretsch is really grabbing my attention! Love the SLAMMING song man!!!
I just bought one same color a month ago! Highly recommend it! I’ve played standard guitar for over 20 years. Bartone is the way to go love the low. Yes great quality. I got it from Sweetwater.
Baritone and Bass VI are not interchangable terms. The Bass VI is a full octave below standard guitar range, just like any other bass. Baritones are traditionally tuned B to B.
Great video! Any chance you'll be planning on any more pickup videos? I'd love to see you maybe rewind the bridge in this baritone or something cool like that.
The pickups have been the most uninspiring part of this guitar, so I ordered some BKP p90’s to change it up. Need to find some wooden dowels to glue into the cavity so I can mount the pickups but should be fun
Bro, for the pickups, DiMarzio just came out with new Filtertron style pickups (PAF and Super Distortion) and they could help you get a better tone Nice video, btw
Love all the videos man. As a recent owner of a Gretsch Baritone, what action height do you recommend? When I first got mine it was super high but I lowered it recently and it suddenly sounded and played much better. Do you know of as sweet spot?
A Quad Cortex rhythm preset for E/C#AEADF# would be nice. Also I've seen people retrofit these with a regular humbucker -sized Bare Knuckle Impulse on the bridge and it sounds gnarly.
Hey there, great review! Tried one in a guitar store. Didn't like the neck profile and the body contour didn't sit right with me. Ended up getting he Squier cabronita baritone instead. Btw, what drumkit are you using for the song at the end?
i bought this guitar last year and i love it but you're right about the low end. it gets so blurry that i've been having trouble getting a crispy articulate tone without the noise floor peeking through noticeably. whats your signal chain??
Dude please let me do some vocal tracks on top of that absolute *BANGER* you just dropped on us like it’s not a big deal to compose something this good 😂 It’s free HMU if you’re interested. purely for the sake of making good music Please ? 🥲
