GREY FLANNEL CHALLENGE! OLD VS NEW! WHICH ONE IS BEST?
Hi There you Lovely Ladies and Handsome Gents! Today I have a VERSUS/CHALLENGE VIDEO! Classic Grey Flannel by Geoffrey Beene for men, versus the NEW GREY FLANNEL formulation!
This is my first Men's Fragrance video here on my channel Talk to the Hand Reviews. I used to work for the group of fragrances which represented Grey Flannel in the mid 90"s, so I remember the original version very well. I tried the newer formulation on my husband and I want to tell you my thoughts about it!! Plus, I have my favorite segment, TOP 10 "What's It Smell Like?",If you have never tried Grey Flannel, you might know one of these other fragrances Fragrantica readers thought it smelled like! Plus one women's fragrance that people thought smelled a lot like Grey Flannel, NO WAY, I thought!! I was really SURPRISED WHICH ONE! One of my all time faves and you probably know this fragrance too! BUT you will have to watch the video to find out, so... Please come on in and join me! (Unless you want to read the list below and spoil it for yourself). :)

Yes. People don't realiza that Grey Flannel has undergone about 4 reformulations. That original one was to die for!

Hi There!! Thanks for watching and helping to keep the collective memory about Grey Flannel going!

People realize it and most other fragrances have been reformulated. There is basically two reasons a fragrance gets reformulated, government regulations or the company that makes it wants to update it. In most cases it is government regulations. What happens is the weirdos on the political left keep coming up with nonsense about how different things in fragrances are ruining the Earth. So Democrats keep regulating what can be used, and how much can be used. Companies have two choices, either stop selling the fragrance, or reformulate it to meet with new regulations. Regulations is actually the number one reason companies stop making fragrances as well. Sometimes trying to keep up with regulations just is not worth it, so they will stop making certain fragrance instead of reformulating it. Reformulating it to keep the scent, but using different ingredients that meet regulation requirements, cost lots of money. Nonetheless, if the government regulates an ingredient in a fragrance, a company has to reformulate it, or they get fined, and their fragrance gets banned till it is reformulated.

Grey Flannel is one of my lifer fragrances. I will always have it in my collection. I’ve always known that smell since I was younger and it always captivated me. One of the best of all time for me!! After hearing these I’m not surprised that I have and love Fahrenheit and Gentiane Blanche. Happy you did this video! ✌🏼🕺🏼♥️

Hi Richard!!! You are truly a supportive person! Thanks for watching and I am so delighted you liked both the video and Grey Flannel! I have to know, do you agree with me about the change in the dry down?? I still think it is nice but a different incarnation. 🌞🌞🌞

Current Grey Flannel I'd say is lighter and has lost the castoreum and oakmoss in the base, and I agree that today it's more of a unisex scent. Still lovely with this iris-violet accord in the heart. Very dapper. Thank you for the video :)

Hi! Thanks for watching and commenting. I know what you mean. One of the things I'm finding out with this channel is how many fragrances that I assumed were discontinued are still available! Some formulations have changed but a lot of stuff still smells the same as I remember which is fun because I get to 'time travel' back through fragrances! Thanks again, cheers!

Great review… I love this fragrance it works so good with my pheromones that people always ask what do I have on. So I continued to buy it . Not to mention one day I was riding the under ground train and in the train station I smelled a scent that made even the train station underground smell pleasant and I asked the older gentleman what he had on if he didn’t mind me asking and he replied GREY FLANNEL and I was a fan of it every since and one trick to understanding this fragrance is that not everyone can pull it off because it smells different on every man I assume . So even though it gets so many bad reviews that’s more of a reason for me to keep it as one of my signature scents … because it’s a sleeper ❤

Hi Gus! Thanks for your amazing comment!!! I love to hear stories like that train station story! I have never heard that it gets a lot of bad reviews! It's still selling after all these years so I think a lot of people must love it still.I think it's a very distinguished fragrance for gentlemen who have refined tastes! You have good taste!!! Thanks again!

31 just bought Grey Flannel and I love this scent the first spray was rough but I sat with it read the comments did my info and sat with it. The cooldown is beautiful, and holds it own definitely not for everyone.....however I would love to mix this with a pineapple, lemon, or stronger lavender scent.

Hi Zororora! I love the interesting comments I'm getting on this fragrance! I absolutely agree that it would be cool to pair it with some citrus or lavender! I'm glad to see it's endured all these years since I used to sell it! Even with the changes in formulation it's gaining new fans like you! I love that! Back then I thought ALL these fragrances would be around forever! LOL! Thanks for watching!😁😁😁

Excelente revisión. Saludo cordial desde Medellín, Colombia. Estoy pensando en comprarla y es la primera revisión en la que la tratan como UNISEX, porque en todas las otras la definen como una fragancia totalmente masculina.

Im here bc i stumbled on this in a old boutique. Its a splash not a spray and more baby powdery as someone else described in the comments. I hope its the OG.

Hi Legendz! Thanks for saying hi! I hope it's the OG too! Although with a splash it's hard to know! I hope it works out! I do like the newer one but it's as I said got a different dry down. I recently bought a vintage splash bottle of Dior's Poison and it smells pretty good but the juice looks sort of gross. LOL!! Still I got my piece of Dior history!! Thanks again!!

I can't stand the new Grey Flannel I had to return it.... growing up I must have had at least 4 bottles growing up from 80s to 90s... without offence it smells like old man!.... it's not the same as it was 30+ years ago.... Strong bug spray scent at the beginning approx 30 minutes later it smells like synthetic plastic / or synthetic leather.... just not the nice clean baby powder/ clean linen smell as back in the day... I can not recommend if you THINK your going to get the nice scent from the old days.
