It's midday and you are in the car on your way home from a road trip, wind in your hair, your loved one on the passenger seat, happily overlooking the view ahead from the window. Everything just feels right in the world. You wish you can preserve that moment forever. It brings you back to it whenever you hear this song.
I was fortunate enough to witness Greyson's live acoustic performance of 'Lakeshore' at Gramercy Theatre in NYC this past March. It was stunningly beautiful. When his voice changed so dramatically, not long after his career began 10 years ago, most thought it was the end of the musical road for Greyson. I kept the faith. Kept watching. Kept listening. And Greyson, being a stubborn muther fucker, kept trudging forward. Now it's enormously satisfying to experience the work of art that is 'portraits'
Omg are you geeks4greyson too on twitter? Because if yes, I follow you there 😂 (btw I think it's really sweet how supportive you are towards greyson :))
“and if that fire’s to fade, i won’t leave you in the blue and if that feeling dies, don’t lose sight, you felt it too you say it’s rapture now, i don’t like feeling so used and when those choirs fade, i’ll keep standing up for you” POWERFUL
This is my favourite off the album. Gives me nostalgic feelings but also gives me a sense of peace right before turning a new chapter in my life. This album could not have come out at a better time. The performance just made the song more real and proves how good of a singer and artist greyson is.
If I had only heard this song, ie. without seeing or knowing he sang it, I would have thought it was someone else entirely... His vocal range is crazy!!!
There you are so gracefully, puttin' on a show Speaking into silence and you've bottled up your cold Take me to a foreign place, one without a turn I'm thinking about the future as we hold the lakeshore And I don't wanna go home I don't wanna go And I don't wanna go home I don't wanna go (ooh, mm) Said you had your soulmate, how's that looking now? Collared up your neck, with him you left that frown (ooh) Take me to a quiet place, one without a turn We'll talk about the future as we hold the lakeshore And I don't wanna go home I don't wanna go And I don't wanna go home I don't wanna go (ooh) And if that fire's to fade, I won't leave you in the blue And if that feeling dies, don't lose sight, you felt it too You say it's rapture now, I don't like feeling so used And when those choirs fade, I'll keep standing up for you And I don't wanna go home (I don't wanna go) I don't wanna go (I don't wanna go home) And I don't wanna go home I don't wanna go (ooh, home) I don't wanna go home, home, home, ooh
