Thanks for tuning in everyone! Special thanks to Codemasters for providing a key to the latest GRID game. And thanks to the early viewers that caught a mistake with the first upload - bunch of files got mixed around when rendering and it needed to be re-uploaded. Also - stay tuned this week for my next "History of - " project! Those of you who have been following me on twitch should already know what's coming :)
Well, i know this is just about visuals & sounds, but GRID 2019 was a dissapointment for me 3. It has a expensive deluxe edition that still doesn't give us everything. I thought after the Dirt Rally 2.0 hate they understood. 2. It might be just me but: WHY THERE IS ONLY ONE MUSIC THAT PLAYS ALL OVER AGAIN? Other Grid, including Autosport had Badass sountrack 1.The carrer mode thats awful boring. Grid autosport had diffrent gameplay modes, special events throghouout the long seasons. Grid kept me for just 4 hours, money waste. +Terrible polish translation, but that's only the specific group
Well, I'll add a comment to point number 3: *I am not saying* that you should give us everything, because we paid. Just paying soo much more for a *few cars* and Totally boring Races, when there are other cars that we have to pay for *is not* for me
To be fair Career in Grid Usually like this all of GRID was boring career. Its kinda disappoint that they made F1 series and Revolutionize Racing Career mod
Race Driver Grid had detailed cockpits despite being released 11 years ago. This shouldn't even be considered as an improvement. The new game may be better than Autosport in some aspects, but it seems inferior to the original game.
All about GRID is the FEELING and the REPLAY mode and the DRIIIIIIIFT! Back in 2008 this stole our hearts. Now.. I don't know. 130 and something tracks with some career mode, and if you buy the DELUXE it will happen something... 'come ooon. Very good job on the 2008 edition. That's all. Where can i BUY the 2008 edition? I'm back, just playing GRID LEGENDS, good, forget what i said above :) The feeling from 2008 is back.
What GRID differ from other racing game was Ai doing mistake Most racing games Before GRID 1 usually ai jusy try harding or drive accurate. But Codemasters racing game has unique Ai design. Such as Crashes while taking a corner. And in GRID 2019 Ai sometimes spins out while taking corner thats one of unique Ai system that hardly see in any racing game.
It's all looks good but in practice game fails with giving some intresting content to you, since there isn't that much of a maps and first season pass included just 1 map from GRID 2 and 4 cars...future of this game definetly doesn't look bright, even now on PC you can find maybe 1-3 lobbies with 6-7 players on it
@@Renopus well it was launched after the release of ps4 and it looked below average for AAA racing game of that time if you compare it to others . Even IGN noticed that .
Some of the most realistic racing sounds in a game are in a game called race pro down to the squeeking of the hot brakes on the touring cars, which if u watch real touring cars it sounds amazingly right on. The cars in autosport sound good but there not on spot to some of the real cars like the touring cars. All you hear is the roar of the engine and theres more sounds going on equal to that in a real touring car.
New grids damage model was such a let down. Especially after it's teaser trailer. It's like racing your hotwheels rather than real cars. If you ram it into a wall you'll get a scratch at worst.
I've always disliked how mediocre car destruction physics are in games nowadays. The best we've seen in AAA games are GTA IV and Burnout Paradise. Even GTA V seriously lowered the damage to vehicles.
@@221Prohunter too be fair, most of it is because licensed cars will refuse games with realistic damage. but they've loosened up recently, especially on their racing cars, maybe it'll change by the next gen?
@chris ortiz But we're talking about a completely different type of studio with older cars in a demo derby game. In the AAA racing games with lots of newer cars, they don't have the damage models that they use to.
Another great video Nick! GRID 2019 impressed me a lot at first glance with all the details and everything, but it gets boring really fast, much repetitive :// words from a huge fan of the franchise
To be fair Career of Grid allways like that you drive get money next race done. Its kinda disappoint thing that they made F1 series They revolutionize Racing game career mode
Based on the footage, I prefer these camera micro-movements (5:55) in GRID Autosport. GRID 2019 does not seem to have this, it's more sterile. It does not give that extra sense of speed. This makes the latter look less intense, being the one with better graphics, IMHO it's a real missed opportunity.
I think a remaster of Burnout Paradise (full remaster, with no reused assets) with a proper crash mode and tweaks to the racing to make navigation less of a problem would be my favorite racing game of all time.
@@directorjustin I don't think they will, not any time soon, as they have already remastered that game. Now Takedown, on the other hand, have not been revisited ONCE.
I loved Grid 1 and 2, not so much Autosport and this reboot.. why’d they get rid of making your own team with your own custom team liveries, unique numbers and a good selection of sponsors you could choose from? And the over the top, action movie like damage and crash camera? These things made the first two games so fun, idk why they decided to get rid of all of that...
Its interesting to see how similar dirt rally 2.0 is to grid 2019. It makes sense why there would be overlap, but its funny to see the same people in the crowd in both games
It's Actually fun game specially it have a option for Arms and wheel disable, I can line up my Thrustmaster TX wheel like in the real cockpit view without seeing the Annoying A.I Arms and wheel. This the only game that have this type of option not even forza 4&5
Grid 2019, clearly looks to have more detailed modeling, just with softer rendering. Sound in the new game is more wholesome as well. And personally the older Grid's interior to me was the right artistic direction just for the feel.
I only have Grid 2 and Grid autosport and I like Grid 2 and autosport better. I would first deactivate the reflections in Grid 2019 because I can't stand that kind of thing or at least switch it to low and if the game has ray tracing and DLSS, that's direct to deactivate
I'm with the minority who think that Autosport's cockpits are better. I've always found detailed cockpits distracting and take up way too much screen real estate. I've always been a fan of the minimal cockpits since TOCA Race Driver 3. When playing the very first Grid I always choose the hood cam.
TAA is the reason why the new GRID is soo blurry. I don't know why developers use this shitty ant-aliasing method when even SMAAx1/SMAAx2 is better than this. Yes, I know TAA gets rid of temporal artifacts but is it really worth it with the image becoming a blurry mess, personally I don't think so.
@@Lattrodon sorry? Old Colin Mac rae rally games has cockpit view Colin Macrae DiRT 1 is acade and has cockpit view DiRT 2 is acade and it has Cockpitview DiRT 3 is acade and it has Cockpitview First GRID From 2008 has proper well designed Cockpitview which is same Series? even Simcade Forza has well desigend cockpitview so thats weak excuse
They should've just used the gameplay mechanics from Grid 2 and slapped on an open world onto it. Grid 2's arcade handling is superb. It's not just a brake to drift kinda game but rather more complex than that. I'm looking at you need for speed >.>
Id pick Grid 1 handling Changing Brake to drift is worse choice that Codemasters made First GRIDs Drift mode lets you control car more strategically then 2
Both 2019 and autosport are great games but I perfer autosport more by a small margin however the cars in grid 2019 look better with not only with the body kits, liveries and damage but I do perfer autosports lighting though but like I said both games are both fantastic racers and give the players a great driving experience
Reflections in grid 2019 are awful, where you sometime have a red light its reflection shows yellow or blue and vice versa, they need reworking but i doubt that will ever happen, and there has been sunlight reflection on the wet ground even though there wasnt any sun in the cloudy sky (not accurate at all)
Thanks for the video review comparison. My first impressions of the New GRID is the overall graphics although better seemed to be bit blurry. Also the Sound in the New GRID is too soft/low levels probably to hear my next to the AI cars. I have both GRID Autosport and GRID2 at this time. Reading in the discussions group for GRID 2019 there were other problems with the game. So since there are no new tracks, no VR, and only graphics improvements, I opted out not to get this game at this time. Plus I think you have to buy DLC addons which with previous GRID games the tracks and cars came with the game. Maybe when the price of the game drops allot I may get it, but happy with the 2 GRID games I have. take care.
It doesn't make sense to me why the gameplay used for this video would be recorded in 1440, then uploaded in 1080. Doesn't that kinda defeat the purpose of trying to show as much detail as possible?
GRID Autosport is way better than 5 year younger brother, made by people who never played Grid games before. And you got a thumbs down from me because of poor comparison . I doubt i will ever see a review by someone who played GRID games (all of them, maybe TOCA games too) and see that he has same opinion as yours. This so called "GRID" was made for NFS fun boys and not for GRID players.
I think we have reached a peak now. Back in my day 5 years difference would have given something like Virtua racing to F1 97 on PS1. Or even without any hardware updates, Gran Tursimo 4 was a bigger improvement on GT 3 on the PS2 than this.
I think you compare apples to oranges. ps2 vs ps2? then please compare the 720p/30fps Grid Autosport X360 version to the almost 4k almost 60fps Grid 2019 on the xbox one x. See now? ;)
Great job! Excellent video! The one thing i noticed though is some of the foliage and trees textures look awful. I dont know maybe its just me. Wish they would improve the headlights/taillights aswell.
In all honesty... I thought Autosport looked better. And Grid offered nothing that interested me beyond what Autosport had.... I barely counted GRID 2019 as a new game.
Fun things i should mention about cockpit view on Autosports Codemaster removed Cockpitview on GRID 2 and that was massive let down. And Autosports suffers same with poorly rendered Cockpit view. Codemasters said 'we dont have time to make Proper cockpitview'
No effort at all on the cockpit view in Autosport. Then again, I couldn't care less since I never use cockpit view anyway. I'd only use it if I had a wheel, which I don't. Autosport looks pretty damn good overall for a 2014 game.
Experiences every grid game feels like. Race driver Grid feels like you are a race driver Grid 2 feels the same from the orginal except you have to gain followers Grid autosport feels like a simcade game (last true grid with good damage model) Grid reboot 2019 feels like you are playing wreckfest but with real cars and the damage models are tuned down and downgraded Grid legends feels like a f1 crossover but with track cars and prototype vehicles with more story drama cutscenes
They could learn from Carmagedon TDR 2000...about damage model in a car game...btw...20 ...f...ing years apart and still bullshit handling from "race" games...
The sound design from Autosport clearly sounds better to my ears. In fact i was just the other week thinking about sending Codemasters an email to congratulate their Autosport team on what is undoubtedly the best motorsport game i've ever played. Great graphics, sound, and a rich selection of tracks with multiple routes. The car handling feels correct and they're fun to drive. One thing not mentioned in this video though is the elongated longevity of Autosport. Because it also features a huge amount of diverse modes to win, then win on a higher difficulty. Then win once again with the Ravenwest team. I'm still a long way off from achieving all my objectives and even after 6 months of PS3 multiplayer i'm still only half way towards earning my 250 XP Gold trophy. Lets hope EA have enough sensibilities to give Codemasters enough free autonomy to continue creating GRID as it should be.
I have always liked the more blurry approach to the cockpit view. If you think about it it’s way more realistic. When you’re driving your focus is on the road, literally. Everything being in focus is unnatural. I think more games should do this. If anything an option to look around the cockpit when you want to would be amazing.
@@nattila7713 yep, they tried to make it more approachable to the arcade market and it ends up being 'meh' for a simulator. Though I personally like the driving mechanics; I always drift the corner to cut lap time :P
Grid may not have the best damage or that many tracks as the old titles do but its a great game its fun a bit of the let down with removal of the drifting events and barely any japaneese as far as i played
