Originally, the buildings started as the High Gate Academy. After the closure of the academy, it was purchased and repurposed by local doctors and named the Oklahoma Sanitarium Company (This may be the creepiest Real Estate decision ever).
In 1915 the sanitarium was sold to the state and became known as Oklahoma State Hospital.
In 1952, he name was changed to Central State Griffin Memorial Hospital, and shortened to Griffin Memorial Hospital in 1994.

My mom was in an East Coast version in the 70's. She didn't die there, in fact I am currently her care giver, but she left some of her there. She was changed when she returned home, and I don't mean cured.

Great video! I've wanted to get out there forever but never have. I've seen a closed Stonelion Inn in Guthrie, officiated my sister's wedding in the Masonic Temple, also in Guthrie. People think something different when I say I married my sister, so i figured clarity wouldn't hurt. The 10th floor of the Skirvin is beautiful, and the purple church hasn't been more than a purple wall for a while, but it's been a long time since something set my spidey senses tingling. Thanks for bringing back some nice memories.

My mother worked on site and worked in Hope Hall the building that was primarily for those who were criminally insane. Very haunted. They can't tear it down because of the asbestos and they are working on getting that done as the land has been sold to the State of Oklahoma

all those buildings are connected by underground tunnels to subbasements storage and disposal if those walls could talk not to long they unearthed a mass grave from a fire back in the day the property if you walk from the buildings to the south used to stretch across Robinson the soccer fields used to be a farm keep going south you will hit Sutton wilderness if i had the money i would gut the buildings to make safe and use them for a midway park/ public carnival with rides and turn the rest property into a recreational pond for canoes and rowboats make use of the land before Walmart buys it up
