I really like how when you listen to her music and watch her in videos you expect her to be quiet and shy with a light voice but she's actually outgoing and exciting with a different voice then you expect Idk if thats weird to think lol
She's not arrogant. She's just proud of her work. That's how nearly all creative people are once their work gets recognised. I'm thinking she's classic INFP. idealist, introverted, creative etc etc
I don't know what it is about her and her music, but I feel so care free when listening to her, almost like an escape from reality, its freaking fun lol
You just took the thought right out of my head... listening to her puts me at ease. I think part of it is because she's so sincere and genuine and that's really refreshing... and it doesn't hurt that she's cute too.
@@fauxorphic2398 I couldn’t agree more but they can’t have known about twigs when they wrote that comment because she had her debut like a couple of years later
She is so good at being herself. weird compliment but it's just like her carefree yet lazer-focused vibe.. She's just so sincere and it's like she never even thought of being anyone else except herself. I want to be that free
Not only is she fantastically good at creating both musical and visual art, there really isn't another artist like her--well, no duh, everyone's different, but she's Grimes, she doesn't just have one genre; she's her OWN genre.
wow...i've been getting more and more interested in her music and thought to randomly look up an interview. she's a lot different than i was expecting. you can tell she's intelligent and unique right off the bat. and i love how she gestures so much with her hands. true creative spirit in that girl....
2:37 "I care about production more than[...] building an image or something. Although that is sort of becoming a thing that (I realize) You can use to wield a lot of power..." ... 2:42 // "We appreciate power" (!) ;)
i dont like alot of new stuff, in fact i dont like any new music and i think most new artists are mainstream bubblegum puppets. this girl is real and this is what ive been wanting since the 90s
I agree I'm a writer got three books on the way. first one is almost. but she is specail I like her. you know glad there's a reality for seeing a good book you can't put down because it is a hundred percent. she is hundred percent. she reminds me of some one woow resemblance is giving me idealology. she's a cure.
I'm finding it very difficult to understand what she's saying in some places since she's talking so quickly and has a bit of a lisp. I've been trying to find a transcript of the interview. Can anyone link me please?
"oooh this chick is weird and makes art... this must be good and this definitely has some sort of deep meaning.. and even if it doesn't fuck it because I like to listen to things that make me feel like I'm cool because they're so off kilter!!"
you're wrong but that's OK, it comes from an outsider artist named ken grimes , for those who don't know , an outsider artist is someone who doesn't apply to the normal rules of painting,Adolf wolhill is the most well known in my opinion.just search wikipedia for outsider artist
I'm glad to see an artist who wants full control of her creative vision. We have a multitude of current artists who have ghostwriters, producers, etc. all creating their artistry for them. Grimes is 100% original. We need more people like this in the music industry. Grimes is bringing authenticity back. Hopefully she starts a movement.
+Bear Boy Art implies authenticity. What you're criticizing is pop entertainment. Don't worry, nobody takes that shit seriously. Grimes isn't anything new for music as an art in regards to authenticity.
+Finn Griffin Interviews are very enlightening. It is humbling to be able to live in an age where valuable information like this is at our fingertips. To be able to get into the mind of a creator is a privilege that I certainly hope none of us take for granted because it is truly remarkable. I am a bagel.
"I consider pop to be just music that is ultimately extremely gratifying. It's music that just seeks to hit the pleasure center." Well put Grimes, well put.
@@jamesbaldock4140 you can definitely say that for all music yeah. I think what Grimes meant is Pop music is generally sensory overload bc of it’s overly expressive sounds/instruments. Like when you hear a pop song you KNOW it’s a pop song. Pop music is just _so_ in your face and easily distinguishable. So in that sense, Pop music’s main and arguably only objective is to make your brain produce dopamine and for you to feel good. A good example is like how clubs mainly only play pop/edm music.
@@ephemeral783 I think quite a lot of rock n' roll is even more extreme than pop. Maybe all pop is in your face / pleasure centre, which is slightly different from what Grimes said. It's as if pop is music that hits the pleasure centre but with a different instruments than rock, or at least it does the same thing but with a different style.
@James Baldock I think what Grimes means, or at least how I see it, is pop is super accesible, catchy, and fun the very first time you listen to it, because it's obvious, theatrical, and in your face. I love Rock music too but I think sometimes you have to sit with those songs a little more before you can really appreciate it, where as in a Katy Perry song for example, after the first chorus you already can kinda tell where the song is going, what it's about, and you already remember the melody because it's catchy. And they're extreme in whatever emotion they are, happy sad angry whatever, it's kinda theatrical. I've found rock trying to be more poetic, understated, complicated and nuanced with many layers at times, and pop to be very straight to the point when it comes to lyrics, sound and feeling, but I love both for what they are!
She is SO my type of girl. Quirky, introverted, highly creative, unique, a bit spastic and insane(in a good way), and super pretty. And I love how she thinks. Everything she described in that interview mirrors thoughts I've had...thoughts that I've NEVER heard come out of another person before. It's nice to realize I'm not alone in those thoughts and ideas. I wish her tons of success. This world needs more people like Claire. The American Idol-ification of pop music has been an utter BORE...and it's time we move the fuck on. Grimes is one step in the right direction.
avedic none many but there are and have been maybe you havent discovered them yet but dig. I agree there needs to be more and shes just amazing in her own.
I love how at 3.20 she is speaking about her confidence building, and on the front view while she's talking she seems so definite and confident, then on the side view you can see her fiddling with her hair nervously. Old habbits die hard. She is so genuine, I love it.
