Thank you - watched this and snuck out and did mine just before it went dark ! I’ve only just bought my old 35 and I couldn’t feel the 2nd stage at all .. measured it after your video and it was miles out! So big thanks from England.
fantastic! holy hell, there’s so much misinformation on the forums. everyone had me thinking my clutch was bad but all i needed was pedal adjustment. thanks, brother!
Thank you! My Uncle's tractor has been doing this for years and none of us have ever known the fix until now. looking forward to having the pto clutch back.
Well all I can say is of you were in Australia anywhere, I'd gladly shout you a beer! For not even the duration of thos video, fixed my PTO grinding and saved me a never emding head ache. Ups to you and this video, all the very best to you and your family and thanks so much for sharing your knowledge
Man, Australia is on my bucket list for sure! My aunt lived there for a few years and said nothing but wonderful things about it. Glad you're all fixed up.
Great work Dad ! hope folks realize they are taking up the slack lost to wear, and to really be sure to leave that little bit of slack otherwise they will be burning life off of their clutch which is definitely no good.
Great video and very informative. Only thing i would mention is that, according to my manual the 3/8 measurement is from the bottom of the footpeg (where it clacks up against), not the end of the pedal. By my measurements 3/8 there is about 1/2 at the pedal.
Amazing! I'm sure that's the problem with my 35, you have to stand on the pedal to get the PTO into gear and even then it grinds, I'll be trying this tomorrow!
Brilliant Video Friend, My TO-30 had needed for decades !! ( SMALL MOVEMENT MEANS BIG CHANGES ) Scratching Aline on both pin and clamp gives good idea on how much you move
Great walk thourth buddy. I know how to do this as my brother has the 35 Massey Ferguson with the Perkins 152 a in it. We are having problems with the pump strangler jumping and staying in th off postion we where thinking about replacement pump. But then the engine gave up in his Hynda Santafe v6. ✌👍
Good short presentation Now asking x a different issue: Can you help me telling me Where the BRAKE LOCKING LEVER 181149M1 goes installed ? I lost the image ! Wait x your kind response
Send me an email to modernhemingway@gmail.com and I can send you a picture. It goes on the left brake pedal next to where are those teeth are that lock it in place.
Hey farm dad. My 48 fergy, find it hard to tighten 11/16 bolt. Also the square piece where you inserted screw driver. Should it feel springy, when turning to stop play in clutch?
Hello great video, really informative. Im looking to buy a 1967 Massey Ferguson 135 Perkins diesel and while test driving it it grinds when engaging the engine pto you have to basically force it in and when you try to engage the ground pto it grinds and won't engage. Would adjusting the clutch aslo help with this? Thanks in advance for any help.
@@FarmDad thank you very much. The guy selling it said he was going to adjust the clutch but I was worrying it could be something else. You have a new subscriber 👍
My MF-20 (3 cylinder perkins diesel) is just barely able to creep along now even though the engine and hydraulics are running fine. I'm not sure if I just need to adjust the clutch or if I have a worn pressure plate. Is there anyway to tell between one or the other? Thanks.
Not near my tractor to test pedal slop but I can't get my pto into Engine PTO mode without turning the engine off. What causes this? Is it possible I only have a single clutch model?
What if that doesn’t fix the problem? I have the same issue as everyone else. Had 2” or so of slop. Adjusted to about 1/2” and still doing the same thing.
You were fortunate to get away with adjusting the clutch pedal only. Clutch pedal adjusting gives correct clutch throw and throw out bearing clearance. As the main clutch wears the clearance between the Primary and the Secondary Pressure Plate increases. That means that the clutch pedal reaches the floor before the PTO clutch releases. Adjust this by 3 setscrews in the Primary pressure plate. WITH ENGINE STOPPED, remove bottom cover plate below the CLUTCH and adjust each setsrew in turn. Turn engine over by hand to get each setscrew at the bottom. On a Massey Ferguson 35 the clearance is 88-92 thousandths of an inch. On a Massey Ferguson 65 the clearance is78-82 thousandths of an inch. Hope this helps.
Mine did the same thing. I loosened off the pedal and tried to move the shaft as described. It felt kind of springy and didn't really want to move in any meaningful way. When I tightened the pedal back on to the shaft the clutch isn't engaged at all and the pedal just falls to the floor. Any idea what might have happened?
