triple j Unearthed's first ever competition winners Grinspoon are back on your radio with a live version of their hit 'Ready 1'. Like A Version is a segment on Australian radio station triple j. Every week a musician or band comes into the studio to play one of their own songs and cover a song they love.
Since 2004, many artists have participated, including Childish Gambino, Lorde, CHVRCHES, Tame Impala, Tash Sultana, HAIM, Gang of Youths, Halsey, DMA'S, Aurora, Arctic Monkeys. You can watch past sessions here: bit.ly/like_a_version

Phil's voice has been a quality of his that I've envied since I was a teenager when I first heard the Grinners. Such a unique growl to his dirty vocals. These guys kicked ass 20 years ago, and I just saw them a week ago at GTM and they kick ass now.

And this, my young confused youth of today, is how triple J rocked in 1998. Not a synth board or a moan in sight. Must say it would've been nostalgic to see them perform 'Sickfest' in the same studio which bought them their fame through the unearthed project. It's still a great song.

Now that's a Like A Version episode. About time for something to get you going for a Friday. Too many performers opt for the slow, raw, sad....... sometimes boring versions. Not Grinspoon tho, come through with the goods !!

One of the hardest hitters of Aussie rock. Seen them countless times, and never seen a bad show. Phil is amazing, and has pulled out a FARKING amazing like a version. And that riff Pat....well fuck my dog, it's off the hook. It's already in my top ten for hottest 100 2018.

Never seen someone sing better blind than Phil at 2000 BDO Sydney. He seemed to get better the more VB's he had.......but then got worse for the last two songs haha (strained voice). These boys are so good, loved them growing up surfing on the Goldie. Best Aussie band IMO.
