Correct me if iam wrong but red flag Alaska was gripen A not even the C version which makes it even more impressive considering that the C and especially the E version is miles ahead.
Does the jamming stack up? USA have Boeing EA-18G Growler, that may be more powerful then a Gripen E system, but 3-5 Gripen could have more combined EW power then a support Growler would be able to and the Gripen would be less vulnerable then the specialized Growler.
Gripen E/F have the AREXIS system which is a pod based unit. Basically it is described as being more capable than Growler. Germany have selected this SAAB system for the EW version of Eurofighter.
@@donquixote1502 The Swedes make excellent weapons. The USN buy SAAB Giraffe radars and Boeing and SAAB are building the next generation training aircraft the Boeing T7 Red Hawk. The Germans are building 15 new Eurofighter EK an advanced EW version based on the AREXIS Gripen system. Not bad for a small country roughly the population size of a US State.

SAAB also have pods. Don't know if there's any additional benefit of using those with the Gripen E but I suppose even more antennas if nothing else ..
As I said a month ago ' AREXIS is a pod system ' and it gives advantage for friends around it not just one aircraft. It is designed for SEAD/DEAD missions . This system is being bought by Germany for the new Eurofighter EK.
The only 2 left with a possibility of purchase by Finland was Gripen and F35 and let's be honest if you want to gain entry to NATO perhaps you have to please the big boy first..
