This is such a great info! I love cheap buys and I always make sure to spend less and find cheaper options. This is such a great help! So awesome of you guys 👏
Hi Kade, so glad to hear that you found the video useful! Going cheap and shopping for food groceries makes a big difference when long term travelling.
I never knew that Costa Rica was more expensive. Thanks for showing where you shop and the prices. Because when we travel we do stay at place for a while and we do shop for food as we don’t eat all out every day. Good video!
I was there the week after you posted this! Such a lovely town and I checked out most of these stores. Best deal I ran across was in San Jose, a guy on the street downtown selling avocados 8/ $1.
8 avocados for a dollar, what a bargain! We found a guy on the street in San Jose too and managed to get 4lb (2kg) of Rambutans for 1000 colones (around $1.50). La Fortuna was so charming, wasn't it! Arenal Volcano makes such a stunning backdrop too.
Absolutely wonderful video! Thank you for the tour! Thank you for the opportunity to accompany you on this beautiful shopping tour in La Fortuna, Costa Rica! Such a beautiful experience! Have a wonderful day! Cordial greetings!👍&FV
Figured out why I didn't get a notification or see your video come up, looks like I accidentally hit the subscribe again on the last video I watched!! oops!! Glad you guys kept in touch, probably wouldn't have noticed for a bit!! lol Love your video! I wish I had it before going, we didn't hit the other store at all and I didn't know about the discounts with your passport... could have saved some money since we mostly shopped at Mega Super!!
🤣🤣 We still can't get over the fact that we were both in La Fortuna at the same time! We could have told you in person! Oh well, I'm sure our paths will cross again soon!
Hi BLT!, yes indeed, Costa Rica can be more expensive than other central American countries but as always, ask locals and for sure the open air markets give you a better price. Safe travels mis amigos!! 👍✈
@@gaillesarge9779 Jay visited a farmer's market on a Saturday in La Fortuna. It is near the Super Rosvil. In San Jose the farmers markets are on every weekend, usually Saturdays and rotating at different venues. We'll be doing another video about them next month.
.hello i am vietnamese. i want to get to know you hope not to give up, i watched your video, i found it very interesting very useful, thanks for sharing
Wow! I couldn’t get over how inexpensive the meats, pasta and veggies were! We love farmers markets too! The USA is experiencing very high inflation, especially on food. A NY strip steak (good quality) is between $15-$22 a pound! Great video so happy you were aloud to film inside the stores! Very helpful tips! ~Cara 😊
We are quickly realising in hindsight how inexpensive the food was compared to the US! We are certainly feeling that right now! Are the farmers markets in the US cheaper than supermarkets? They typically aren't in Australia, they tend to be at a premium. Partly because the food is generally more organic.
Hi Caroline and Amir, thanks for watching! Yes we plan to be in Turkey around March/April next year! Where Whereabouts are you both in Turkey? We are also tentatively planning to visit Iran, would be great to pick Amir's brains on travelling there,
@@BucketListTravellers that’s awesome!! We’re in Istanbul … happy to show y’all around here if you make it to istanbul… and yes, Amir would be glad to give tips on where to travel in Iran. He’s been everywhere there! 😅
Hi There e p, we are a bit hazy on this but feel like you can only use colones. That said, you will find that most places accept cards. When you do use card, just choose to pay in the local currency rather than use the option to convert to US dollars as the rates won't be as favourable as what your bank will be able to do. We can say that tour operators and a lot of hotels will accept US dollars.
