Maybe I will see her on the street walking 🙂 please upload more videos very interested. thank you ❤ much love for Russia 😘⚘ alot of yummy food prices are very cheap compared to the US looks like you get alot for your money. love all your videos! I love you maria my russain beauty forever my darling ❤❤❤
Always great. In New York , Brighton Beach has a store in an old movie theater originally called Gormanoff now Netcost that features many of the items in your vlog and looks remarkably the same. The specialty items are amazing and YES it would be wonderful to see more about Russian food and products. Looking forward to the next installment. A side note, did you really fit yourself into that cart or photoshop ? Be careful if you did actually do it , a vlog on Russian ERs is not necessary.
A fine treat of a video for sure. Now I must visit the Russian General Store in Houston tomorrow after work for black bread, herring, salmon caviar, and super yummy Russian cheese.
That Putin caviar was odd. 😆 At the pickle aisle, that Globus brand is probably a Hungarian one. I was surprised to see Hungarian made pickles in Brussels, Belgium. I guess our pickle game is strong. 😄
I was hoping to see some perogies or cabbage rolls as it is a Ukrainian favorite among us Ukrainian Canadians. Thank-you for showing your excursion to grocery shopping. ☺
you have more choose over there than our supermarkets more varieties of food ,i dont like cottage chesses or cabbage but if i visit a country i would try anything no point in visiting and not trying local foods ,nice to see places like supermarkets ,if i go on holiday those are places i like to visit as well just to see what different foods they have so great video, thanks,
For basic staples like bread, chicken, cheese, prepared meals, and generic vodka (a staple in Russia?), the prices in USD are much lower than here in the US - about half the price. I suspect because they are subsidized by the government. Still the luxury items like cavier and top shelf vodka are similar in price to the US.
Surprised to learn that Russians eat dried seafood as a snack with alcohol. I always thought it was more of an Asian practice 🤔 We East Asians eat it quite often. Also I saw the Brest Litovsk brand of dairy in a special shop in Singapore selling Russian groceries. I tried "Russian cheese" (Сыр российский) and it is quite tasty. Interesting :) In Singapore we dont have such large grocery stores because of our very limited land space. Always enjoyed shopping in these standalone grocery stores when visiting other countries :)
Ok, great video! Great to see you again. Looks like you are happy. But, now I am very hungry 😂 Yes, I would love to try everything! Even the mint jelly ( I think that is what you said 🤔) So, now I must go, to stare into the refrigerator 😏
Very nice shopping video. Wish I could try your much healthier Russian food (Ukrainian and Georgian too) . Hope your channel grows exponentially .. You deserve it Wonderful Elena!
It's so great to see inside a Russian supermarket. I've had a lot of these foods already and I like about eighty percent of them. I even learned to do some Russian recipes and cook them quite often. Alyonka is my favourite chocolate! I sure do miss buying them. I usually order them from a shop in New York since my local Russian shop doesn't have them. I had a few friends from Russia send me some other things like potted potatoes, sunflower seeds, and dried fish snacks. There are some things I'm saving for when I visit Russia. Great video and very informative Elena! It's great to see you again!
Super interesting, love herrings. Fish is more popular in the north and west in the UK and less so in the south. Mackerel are popular in Wales. Your supermarket is fairly similar to what we have Thanks for the video. ( Diolch am y fideo)
This may be the longest video I've seen inside a Russian market, people usually get told to stop filming. I'm surprised how many international food products there are, somehow I never figured Oreos or Twix would resonate with Russians. Thanks ))
You're welcome! Yeah, I was worried about that, too! Some people looked at me and maybe thought I was weird, but no one asked me to stop filming :) There're some supermarkets here that even have signs saying that they're camera-friendly :)
The more I see of your videos the more Russians look like Americans and Americans look like Russians - We have a lot in to share with each other - - Thankyou for Your Work
It was a pleasure accompanying you on your grocery shopping, many thanks for that pieasure, your super markets are well stocked compared to ours, I think it is because we arre suburban based unlike super markets based in London Denny Fernando
Many thanks for allowiing me to accompany you on super- market shopping trip,. After watching you do the shoppining I have concluded that not much is different to what is on display for saie, we all basicall eat more less similar sort of food, I cannot comment on the prices though. In the matter of the the choise of cheese you lick us,
Hi i have watchers few of your videos, which are very interesting. So having slept on it I want to comment not on this video but the Shaman visit to the big tree. The bare patch of earth should be investigated as it could indicate a variety of problems or opportunities. Either way soil samples should be analysed to determine what is in the soil. Lack of growth is a tell tale and shouldn't be ignored. I have caught up on 50% of your output and although an ancient creature I have been learning an hour of Russian for a couple of years since I visited St Petersburg. I had a literary friend who dragged me kicking and screaming to Russian literature do I dipped my toe in and enjoyed it. I read a lot of early 20th century American literature as well as other European authors. My main interest is science and hence the concern with an unexpected patch of earth where nothing grows.
I'd love to try so many of those things. I'm curious if the instant Borscht is good. I've only had it once when a Lithuanian friend made it, and I loved it.
Nice as always, but are you sure that conversion of rubles to dollars was a good choice? I mean...maybe...more of your subscribers better understand the prices in euros. :)
Thank you :) Yeah, I was thinking about that... Actually, my RU-vid analytics show that most of my viewers are from the US. But I do understand that people from different countries want to know the prices in their currency...
Hi Elena, excuse me for the late. This is an interesting video because you showed Russian food, and other items with prices. The supermarket seen in the video is similar to supermarkets in my nation. Russian food isn't so popular in Italy, there is Russian salad (made in Italy), vodka and maybe borsch, but generally in my state there are almost only italian and a little of European food products, but Italian people think that Italian food and kitchen are the best in the world (I'm not agree) and they aren't so interested to try foreign dishes.
Hi Jackie, thank you for your comment :) Glad you liked the video! Yes, I've always though Italians are really proud of their food. Personally, I like your country's cuisine a lot :)
@@elenastravels thanks for your comment and for to appreciate the cuisine of my country. I appreciate the food of my state, but to say that the Italian cuisine is the best in the world I think is an exaggeration.
Is it wrong that I notice your flat blue nail polish? Am I not a follower but extreem temporary observer? And were those Army boots I subconciously noticed in another post? May I think your wilder than your calm posts? You may know I adore many ways to learn of the People there. TY PS to clarify, I never saw non glossy nail polish before, which might mean I don't look @polish. Your fun to have noticed from there.
The "beer island" is unique 😃 If I got thirsty from shopping, I could go ashore and settle down for a few hours. The Kalashnikov vodka is better to drink at home withhin a short distance from bed... 😁
I enjoyed this video. On those occasions when I’ve gone shopping in the supermarkets in the Russian-speaking neighborhoods of southern Brooklyn, New York, not far from my home, I’m always amazed by the amount of shelf space devoted to different brands and varieties of sour cream and the variety of pickled products.
@@elenastravels i did like seeing the different kinds of foods that we don't normally see here in ohio. I love fresh fruit and it would be fun to try new ones
All the food looks good. I've never eaten dried fish. IDK. I like lox and smoked salmon, so maybe... I don't think I could survive in your country, as I drink no more then a sip of alcohol--15 ml is all I can drink. Avocado and the fresh fruit is the same price as in the USA, but the rest of the food is cheaper.
Hi Elena, thanks for this video. It is always good to see how the food prices compare, especially during this time when food is going up in price. Groceries are much cheaper in Russia. Perhaps you will make some more shopping videos? Thanks for putting the prices in U.S. dollars. Are the prices for the fruits per kilogram? Thanks!
Hi Rhubarb! Glad you liked the video :) What kind of shopping videos would you like me to make? Yes, the prices for fruits and veggies are per kilo, except for avocados - it shows how much one avocado costs :)
@@elenastravels Anything you like! More grocery videos, Medicines, clothing, transportation, housing, the cost of going out to a cafe or dinner for two people...these things that affect the daily lives of people everywhere. By the way, I love avocados...
I am happy for what this shows, and what it means for the Russian people. That store is the equal of any major grocery chain in the united states today. Before the Soviet/Russian transition absolutely nothing like that existed as a method of delivering resources to the workers of Russia. From what I have seen through the following of several bloggers like you, is that the Russian standard of living has clearly come to equal ours here in the US. Putin has, with the initial support, and help of other nations, brought Russia right into the modern world. I would say the transformation of Russia, and the economic re-birth is nearly miracleus in that so much benefit has accrued to the workers. Putin deserves a share of this credit by his leadership, his national cheerleading, and steady confidance building among the russian peoples. If only he can find a way to let go of power before he causes more damage than good. He has already shown himself unable to temper the insidious corrupting effects power has upon the minds of men. The annexation of Crimea after specifically promising to respect Ukraine's sovereign territory in exchange for Ukraine giving over the nuclear arsenal based there to Russia was both a betrayal, and the first act of naked aggression in Europe since WW2. Precious human lives are being snuffed out every single day in yet one more vainglorious excersize of ego over reason we as humans are so good at. He has forgotten that every life is of equal value to every other life created by the churning of this ancient universe, including his own. He has been corrupted by the power of life or death over others. His pride, like many before him, has usurped the mandate of god. Recall that Crimea, taken from the ottoman empire by Potemkin was given to Ukraine by Khrushchev as an indemnity, an atonement for Stalin cruelly starving millions of Ukrainians to death during his brutal drive to force collectivization on Ukrainian farmers. Stalin just like his contemporary, Adolph Hitler thought nothing of the death and destruction they were willing to inflict in their 1939 conspiracy to invade Poland to steal from the Poles all they posessed. Similarly both men directly initiated the murder of millions of their own people in camps where all prisoners were intended to be worked to death by brutality, and/or starvation. These people were innocent, slaughtered just to satisfy the blood lust of power enjoyed by men of evil. There lies our warning, written in the innocent blood of all those that did not need to die. We must recognize from the undenieble sins of our that our duty is to each other, to defend against any threat which emperils our collective right to live unmolested wether this be by extra-legal, or extra constitutional state action, or any non-constitutional seizure of power already held by the state.
