Always amazed at how great humans can be, truly, to put this together took effort, love, time. I am not getting my fat ass off my chair for Steve Grogan, although I did meet him, still, I am not doing shizel. So, thank you whomever did this, it is superb.
Grogs! I'm 66 years old. I grew up near Foxboro. Steve Grogan remains my #1 QB and Team! Tough as nails. 70's football was unrelenting and hard core violence. Grogs played for 15 years.
As a young kid I'll always remember my father's favorite player was Steve Grogan. I asked him why and he said you'll be hard to find hard nosed QB with arm like his. This started me on my love of football and being the lifetime N.E. Patriots fan that I am. I still wear my dad's #14 Grogan jersey every game day since he passed away, miss you dad...
That's a great memory, and what I love about football.. it can connect us all on a deeper level, and give us memories that last a lifetime. Love your profile picture, by the way.. haha. It's a classic! Appreciate the comment, Bud.
THE MAN IS A LEGEND,A CANNON FOR A ARM ,AND COULD RUN LIKE THE WIND,WATCH HIS COLLEGE HIGHLIGHTS,PRETTY AMAZING TILL HIS KNEE GOT BLOWN OUT,TUFF AS NAILS NO SLIDING FROM STEVE EVEN WHEN HE RAN WITH THAT NECK BRACE THING,THANK YOU#14
The man who put the Patriots on the map and made them relevant in the modern (post-merger, Super Bowl) era of pro football is the subject of this video.
Grogan needs to be in the NFL Hall of Fame! He was one of my favorite quarterbacks. He could run and pass. Tough as nails! I loved that 76 Patriots team😃
Oh, absolutely! You'd be right on both of those stats too. Yea, I even tried to include just a section of this video just to showcase his wheels, haha.. dude was a sneaky good runner.. even as he got older.. not as much, but he could still get you a first down if you needed it.
@@StrangeVoodooTV Steve Grogan was and still is a very humble guy who always looks back with fond memories of his playing days whenever he's interviewed....
One of my favorite players of all time. Tough guy. When he threw an interception, he would be the first to tackle the guy. Never did a quarterback slide which was very rare in those days. Played on some great teams that dominated the NFL
Great video! I'm glad I got to see him play so many games from 1980 - 1990. My brother in law took me to my 1st ever NFL game Dolphins at Patriots in 1980 season. Patriots won 34 - 0. Steve Grogan at QB Season ticket holder from 1984 - 1988. I remember Grogan beating Buffalo in January 1983 (strike season) to get the Patriots in the Playoffs
Grogan is QB that Belicheck would love. Tough as nails, not afraid to stand in against a blitz, willing to take a hit to deliver the ball at the right time. Never saw him flinch when he knew he was gonna get crushed. If he played today with the QB's being protected more, he'd be a top 3.
He came close to winning a super bowl. In 1976 the Patriots went from 3-11 in 1975 to 11-3. they faced the 13-1 Oakland raiders in the playoffs. In the 4th quarter the Patriots were leading 21-17 it was 3 and 18 and ken stabler throws an incomplete pass. But instead of 4th and 18 and the raiders most likely losing, a controversial roughing the passer penalty was called on Raymond Hamilton although it was not roughing the passer. So the raiders were given a 1st and goal and ken stabler ran it in for a touchdown to win it 24-21. In week 4 of that season, The Patriots beat the raiders 48-17 and gave them their only loss of the season. So if that roughing the passer penalty wasn’t called, the Patriots could’ve went to and won the super bowl.
And they would’ve went to Pittsburgh the next week to play the Steelers who were without Harris and Rocky. One of the worst calls in NFL history and mindless Raiders fans still bitch about the tuck rule.
I remember watching that game just like it was yesterday. Horrible call. Grogan was my favorite QB. Called his own plays, great arm, and, as others have mentioned, tough as nails.
My favorite PATS QB ever (Bledsoe 2nd n Brady 3rd of course the order is reversed w it comes to best PATS QB ever but they dont have to be the best to be my favorite) TOUGHNESS goes a long way in my book and I don't care what anyone says Brady is a tough SOB but he wouldn't have survived a season if he played in the NFL between 1975-97.
Brady tough? When he gets hit a few times he gets rattled. All teams know that. Especially the Giants. On the other hand, Grogan was a tough as a QB I ever seen. Imagine him on a Belichick team. Grogan's cannon arm, scrambling speed and with a dominant defense. Fuck.
There was actually a game where the Pats lined him up at halfback and he excelled. I watched it here on youtube awhile back and I can't find it. Anyone have the footage?
1990 Tecmo SB on the pink coloUred Patriots( utilizing Steve.G was a not so tedious 'handicap' ) *-* then(shortly after)pull a 180 to a QB Eagles Season(!)
Good news! Already was able to do one on him a little while ago (Here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7HfKbsWKEdk.htmlsi=ODVe8opHVRSEdNzz)! Hope you enjoy it.
