Thank you! Have bred and shown Shelties for over 20 years, and after the loss of my last one a few years ago, decided to get an Aussie pup. I knew that there would be similarities in grooming, and this video was extremely helpful, especially about the ears and tail areas. Now my little Beau won't look like a raggamuffin!
The undercoat rake is our best friend when we groom Millie our miniature Australian Shepherd. She gets brushed with it about everyday. Mostly because we like to keep her coat long. Also she has sensitive skin so we have to use this special oatmeal and aloe detergent free shampoo on her (we buy it at the vets.)
Thank You! I have been looking and looking for videos on grooming Aussies - especially what to do about the ear-dreadlocks :) So glad this came along. And so glad to see that Zack still puts up a little fuss, some whining, and paw-ing... and you do this regularly for the show ring. I guess we (me and my Aussie) are doing okay, then We are not in the ring, but I love a well-groomed dog. Ears are still the hardest part (he's almost 2yrs) but we're getting better. Thanks again. Thank you so much for the video! We've taken our Doc Holiday to several groomers here in TX and they just don't seem to know how to trim him correctly so I wany to learn how to do it myself.

Hi Michelle, Keep in mind that the dog in this video is a 6 year old stud dog. Females tend to have a little less coat than the males. However you can condition your girls coat tremendously by daily conditioning with Naked Coat and by adding Show Stopper to her daily diet. These thing can be found by using Google . Also I use Isle of dog Royal Jelly Shampoo with heavy management conditioner. I hope this helps!

They were once butchered by a show person which made her face appear really ugly and with no weight the ears just didnt sit in good position at all :( Shes only 19 months and we both have a lot to learn
Extremely wonderful tutorial. Zack is such a patient and handsome fellow. We have just acquired an Aussie-Poo (Aussie/poodle hybrid) and hope to groom her at home. She's 3 months old. I do have a question for you. When soaping up and rinsing face, how would you do that, I'm afraid of water getting into the ears.

My aussie is a year old as of last month, and is not as fluffy as the dog in this video. Will her coat fluff out sometime in the next year? (Note: she has LONG fur, just no fluffy undercoat.)
@HorseyHow2Channel it wont matter they are very active and you will have to train the aussie to not get in front of the horse or frighten it because they are herders but aussies are great
