Yess!! I'm just seeing this now and my thought the whole time was "this cat is so chill, wtf!!" My cats would never, Even dry shampoo I have a hard time!
I have a long hair cat. Need to trim back end as now starting to matt. All the cats on here are so well behaved. My cat growls, hisses, scratches, bites and spits at me. Also why shave that cat? Cat hair is mainly to protect from the sun, have to use sun lotion now. I just don't get it. Just got to the hair crayon part, what the actual?????
Maybe if there was some occasion, like a comicon costume or Halloween, or a photo shoot, then I could see using the paint for a temporary event. Otherwise, it's just a demonstration of the grooming services available. I've noticed, however, that cats are even less enthusiastic than dogs about such things. 😏
He's an angel he didn't hiss even once...great technique as well but That flower was so unnecessary though (hey cat if you're reading ths bite the next time they draw on you)
@@livelovelife32 When cats get matted (most of the time long haired cats obviously) you have to shave them. My cat can keep up with his coat for a max of 3-4 months and then his fur gets matted so we have to shave him. We keep his mane and his tail and he eventually just grows it back out.
Because they've got a sick idea of what "beauty" is. Both would do better to accept that the cat is already beautiful, and focus on losing the excess weight, esp the human! Let's shave off the flab instead!
Long haired cats generally are fine to shave as their coats can get matted and shaving can help cool them down in hot climates. I wouldn’t know why they would shave a short hair.
@@JuanitaTo2224 still wrong, why would you want your cat to be stressed for even more time? the colors in his skin will fade away, there are no benefits besides the owner's entertainment
Wtf is this? I can maybe understand shaving a cat for an informative video - I am researching because I found a cat covered in mats who really needs help, but this cat was short haired, had no apparent fur mats or other issues..... it seems to have been done only for"educational purposes". Could they not have found a cat that actually needed to be clipped for its own good rather than just being used as a prop? And the skin painting at the end was just ugly and sick in my opinion. What was the purpose of putting the cat through that?
The flower was hideous and totally unnecessary. The rest, I loved. Great tips. My Ragamuffin tornado would scratch my eyes out if I came anywhere near his butt, though. :D
idk why they are but mine is long haired and when he kicks himself he eats a lot of fur especially during summer where his hair is falling out but this cat doesn’t need it
How do you know they're fine? I'm watching this because my cat's hyperthyroidism has given him huge sores on his belly that won't heal. They bother him so much he's pulling CHUNKS of hair out from the root at a time on his lower belly and legs. I have to put antibiotic powder and analgesic spray on him consistently per the vet but it's getting caught in the hair. He's a short hair ginger tabby like the one in the video, and gets just as fiesty when being treated, despite being 15. You also can't see the sores unless he's on his back and you part the fur. (Thankfully, I noticed them early because I always hold him and give him belly rubs before bed each night). Don't judge a cat by their looks... you don't know what they're dealing with.
@@margauxf4321 Your cat has an actual medical problem. Shaving is completely understandable. Unfortunately most people shaving their cats like this are doing it for their convenience and not the cat's.
This is totally tasteless. The idiot that came in and drew on the cat.. just wow. It's not funny and it's totally unnecessary. Shaving this SHORTHAIR cat is not needed.
Some shorthairs do need to be shaved. Especially with older cats who stop grooming themselves, they can get matted really easily and it's more comfortable to keep them short.
too bad shouldnt have gotten a cat if you dont like cat fur on your furniture no reason to drag that cat all the way over to a stupid cat show and be stressed his fur looked fine not matted he clearly didnt needed it
Medical reasons. Cat probably can't groom itself anymore. Owner's choice. Reasons vary. I'll be shaving my DMH due to him being unable to completely groom himself anymore. I still brush and wash him, but it'll help. Plus, he won't try to excessively groom the areas he *CAN* groom.
Their fur actually has natural insulation to keep them warm as well as keeping them cool in summer. Read up on it. Also, please dont draw on the cat. I dont care if its non-toxic. They are not toys!!! Your stressing out this poor kitty. And no treats at the end of this whole painful experience.
As a professional groomer I see a lot of comments here from people who don't have a clue about grooming and feel to add their so call professional opinions, cats are not easy to groom as they have an independent nature about them and most are not raised in the grooming process. So unless you have personally groomed animals and know what it actually entails you should be just a bit more compassionate towards the groomer. As for drawing on the fur I'm not a big fan but who knows what the owner requested. I take a lot of crazy request that I have to talk people out of. One complaint, whiskers should never be cut as they are necessary for a cat and are not cosmetic.
Why in the world do people wanna shave a short haired cat bald??? I can understand doing a long haired cat that gets mattes or like mine her long belly fur picks up leaves and everything else in the yard so I like to keep her trimmed but not bald!
I dont give a damn if you were a Professional shit scooper! This is about as asinine and ignorant as it gets! Only a destructive person condones shaving a damn cat's hair off! You and whoever else likes doing this are sick mentally.
@@DawgcityClev there are lots of reasons to shave cats. When some cats get old or overweight, they can't reach areas to groom themselves and become matted and uncomfortable. Excessive shedding can cause terrible hairball issues and blockages in the digestive tract. They can have thyroid disease and have incredibly thick coats, causing overheating and painful matting. Skin issues such as heavy dandruff can be alleviated much more quickly. People who have severe allergies do much better when the cat is shaved. I could probably go on, but I made my point. Most people who get their cat shaved, have a legitimate reason. The cats are fine. No reason to get fired up about it.
I don't know about anyone else's cat, but mine has two whiskers on each leg right above the paw. These whiskers are similar to the ones on her face. Be careful before you shave your cat check for whiskers on their arms and legs
That's the theory I'm working with...I'm paying her a lot of attention with the clippers in my hand and then with them on and not clipping but near her and slowly moved to using the clippers...she was pretty calm for a bit and then got annoyed so we stopped for today. I'll do more later..she can get quite "bitey" when she's getting brushed near a sensitive bit so i don't want to push it.
That’s some bullshit 😂 it took me almost an hour and a half to do what you did in a few minutes 😩 when you know your stuff you know your stuff. Thank you :)
me too.. taking care of 11 cats.. i can only brush half of them.. the others 😣. they bite and scratch. i get scared when they hiss at me. i mean i dont mind grooming them all.. if only they arent aggresiive and would just lay still
One of mine that needs to be shaved because he's half wild and doesn't let me comb him except on the head, so he gets mats. If I even pet him on the lower part of his back, it's scratching, clawing and biting time. He's got a little mat under his front armpit, so I just bought clippers to see if he'll let me clip him. Last time i took him to the vet, they still managed to miss part of the mat that I took him there to have dealt with.
Ikr like my cats a demon n this wasn’t helpful for me at all mine would bite n attack in minutes this cat was amazing dispite the drawings on him after words poor guy
Shaved cats may feel vulnerable, and the experience of being shaved can be traumatizing. Plus, their fur plays an important role in regulating body temperature, so shaved cats are susceptible to either being too hot or too cold. A pet's coat is designed by nature to keep it cool during the summer and warm in the winter. By shaving your pet you usually interfere with this built-in temperature regulation. Cats, in particular, are very good at regulating body temperature and really get no benefit from being shaved,Shaving a cat can lead to a high risk of sunburn and overheating from time spent sunning their bellies. Not only are sunburns painful to your cat's skin, but they create a risk factor for certain types of cancers like squamous cell carcinomas Cats comes from Africa originally, the coat is designed to protect their skin and body from the sun and the heat
Why is this lady drawing on a cat?! That was a pretty enlightening and educating video... until the drawing started to happen. That’s just sad and SO unnecessary. Smh poor kitty.
I wish my cat was this chill. I have a long hair persian who Matts easily because he does not like being groomed at all, I keep him in lion cuts during the summer, it’s a hard job he bites a lot and no one takes cats without putting them to sleep first around where I live. So I had to learn it myself. Takes me a couple days to get the job done so he doesn’t stress but it works.
Until you can give me a reason for doing this that directly benefits this individual cat, I consider this tasteless. Could you not demonstrate the technique for grooming a difficult cat on one that would actually benefit (for example, a long-haired cat suffering with a matted coat)? As for the flower, don't get me started on that. Cats are sentient beings, not toys or ornaments. As professionals working with animals, I expected better.
+Sun Trespasser maybe they don't want cat hair all over the house. She is not hurting that cat. The cat is doing fine and all will be happy as far as I can see.
+Saraphine S Then she should not have a cat, or get a Rex breed. I have only ever done this in very matted cats, never on one with a healthy coat. As I said, I expect better from professionals who work with cats.
+Sun Trespasser I don't want to argue with you. I thought she handled the cat fine to me and for a number of different reasons the owners thought to do this. Maybe it was a hot summer or whatever. Why don't you save your angry energy for animals that are abused instead. I think the cat is fine.
+Saraphine S Angry energy? Nah, I've seen too much over the years to get angry about it. I'm just disappointed. I haven't asserted that the cat has been handled roughly (although I handle cats more sympathetically personally), nor do I think the cat has been hurt in any way. I think the entire concept of shaving a cat for human benefit is one of misplaced priorities - same as declawing (a whole other debate). Please do not think of me as a crazy militant. I'm not. I just don't like seeing cats being used as weird-ass fashion items (which the flower is without question, regardless of the shaving).
I personally have to shave my sweet kitty due to allergies. I love cats, I have rescued many, unfortunately, I have developed allergies after serving in the gulf war. If I want to live I have to shave them. No, I will not give my cats away due to allergies. They are loved and cared for very much.
Miriam Andrews have you seen a new per food has just been launched that reduces cat allergens production by 40 % - might avoid the need to shave, www.dvm360.com/view/game-changing-feline-diet-promises-relief-for-people-allergic-to-cats
Thanks for showing that lol. That was a very well behaved cat so I decided to try it on my boy for the first time ( long hair and his first spring shed since hes young ) Hes got a lot of matted hair and i wanted to lion cut him. He only let me get half way done but he was shockingly less against the initial shave than this cat XD Stayed quite still and even rolled onto his back so i could get the belly. I never would've thought it would be that easy. I spent the last few days calling every pet groomer in my town and surrounding towns only to find out NO ONE takes cats and the people who do are booked out until basically winter when he would need his long fur again. I'm really glad theres videos like this cause now my boy gets to feel the cool spring breeze through the window- he's already acting so much happier and it's only been an hour.
My cat would have been biting my arms and digging claws into whatever he could if I just picked him up and put him on a table let alone trying to groom him… that’s a good compliant cat not difficult lol
FANTASTIC JOB! So they had to intreveniously sedate my super long haired partially ferel cat and still could not get it done (at the vet, a travelling groomer tried). He had gotten into concrete dust which had gotten wet, causing matttng. He is VICIOUS and bites and claws. Draws blood. They got it done. But how will I keep it up???
Awww, what a good kitty! Some comments are against the haircut yet I've had a few cats, my mother too, and they are all different. Some need more attention than others. This groomer is well trained and efficient. I'm very impressed so far. Kitty looks absolutely marvelous! The painted flowers might be reserved for some sort of occasion. Maybe a show or a photo shoot. He's still a very handsome creature.
There is this thing called photoshop, don't use ur cat as a canvas. The should tattoo those ugly flowers on the forhead of the owners. If a cat needs trimming then look for the best groomer near you, traveling long to get a stupid flower on them is not good for the cat.
Very good, I would never groom mine. The way they act at the vet is enough warning. She’s great. We’re we supposed to be dazzled with the cats color. He’s a handsome boy.
Okay - if someone decided to draw a childs version of a flower on me - I’d be pissed. If someone removed my clothing because they wanted me to look better - I’d be violated. What the heck is this
Great video. Thank you! Amy you’re amazing. Great personality, sweet and great with animals. I did not love the creative groomers part, not crazy about drawing on cats.
