For me, I saw the 'snap' as a recognition Thanos' power once he acquired all the stones. Something so effortless as a snap of your fingers to wipe out half of all life, makes it seem much more terrifying and instantaneous.

As was mentioned, I agree that Thanos "chose" to use a snap. The reason I believe this is that when Tony Stark does his, it's the equivalent of a giant middle-finger to Thanos. Basically "I'm going to take what you were going to do and do it back JUST TO SPITE YOU", when Tony would've probably preferred his standard Iron Man pose with his palms out (such as when in earlier Iron Man films when he "willed" the suit to fly onto him from afar.) And this also fits Tony's character of taking an enemy's moment and stealing it for himself (though in this case, knowing it was probably his last).

My opinion on the snap thing: he has to flex the knuckle that the infinity stone we wants to use is on closed, like when we clearly squeezed his index finger to use the power stone early in the move. That's why keeping his hand open prevents him from using a stone. A snap is a quick flex of all your fingers (not necessarily closed) but it also engages the whole hand including the stone that would've been on the back of his hand allowing him to engage all 6 stones despite only having five fingers

I agree with the outlook on keeping it on the movie, the snap that is. I feel like they did the snap in the comics is to show how powerful the stones and the wielder are. Its going off the term, "at the snap of a finger." Its showing that the wielder of the stone can do something so powerful on a cosmic scale with such an absolutely simple gesture. Just shows the incredible amount of power it has.

I think they used the snap because any "infinity wish" made through the gauntlet causes direct damage to the closest area (see Iron Man), so, for example, if Thanos would've clapped, he would have taken damage on his other hand as well.

In terms of the mjolnir I feel like there’s more to it. In Thor Ragnarok Thor threw the hammer inside the dragons mouth forcing it to fall down, so I don’t think that anyone besides Thor could lift it even if it’s small. However, in antman and the wasp they move the building on the wheels which would make it impossible as the way you suggested it still weighs the same amount. Is there some kind of exception to the rule then?

I like the Thanos snap because after all the fighting and trying to do everything they could to win they lost everything in the blink of an eye by an individual snapping his fingers. It shows how broken the avengers were that they were beaten by a snap

I don't like the explanation that it doesn't have to snap really. They even made it a point that Hulk had very specific thought/wish/intentions before snapping. My guess is, it somehow closes the loop of all six stones vs physically touching them together. So you wouldn't need to snap it but otherwise you'd hold them together

The reason why Thanos needs to snap his fingers is because the gauntlet is a weapon that was created at Nidavellir, to Thanos' specifications. A snap of fingers is how the weapon is activated once all Infinity Stones are in place because that's how Thanos wanted to end it.

The only thing that bothers me about Groot and more specifically the mouth/audio sync in GOTG Vol 1, when they are escaping the prison and Groot shouts aggressively "I AM GROOOOOOT" the mouth is animated to be open more like an AAAAAARGH sound. I assume that would be an animating over sight instead of a physiological trait of Groot?
