He was almost 80 here. So great of Cavett to give this great artist a few more moments in the spotlight when he was still relatively healthy just before his major strokes.

Still a stellar entertainer, after all these years. How many in show business have that kind of staying power? Few and far between. Often imitated, NEVER DUPLICATED

The best thing on RU-vid by some distance; I watch this several times a year when I need a boost. Though I always think about the distance between now and then, and between then and At The Circus and it makes me ache a little, like one of those animations of the universe that zoom out, and out, and out again into the infinite.

Funny and amazing! I was born in 1963 and recall an older neighbor lady who was a friend of my parents (In South Dakota). While folks my parents age were worried around 1970 about hippies, our neighbor lady Vinnie and her husband - both were young in the 1920’s - were not concerned at all. Vinnie would play from memory the piano as she played it in the cinema back when she was a teenager, before “the talkies”. Great memories, fun people 😀🎶!

I love the band joining in. It’s like the nurse chorus on SNL, “st. James infirmary”. It played in “breaking bad” finale too. I didn’t catch why that song until just now. Lydia the meth distributor.

A time when you could tune in and forget about your troubles or how unfair life can be. Your opinions about things didn't matter because it was simply entertainment, that's all it was supposed to do, and it did. I miss it.

This song is hilarious if only for the fact that most people really don't get that much of it is sexually suggestive in an innocent way of course. My favorite is "when her muscles start relaxin' up the hill comes Andrew Jackson." Everybody loves erection jokes :o)

Its funny. I met a person the other day, who had a lot of tattoos and told her that I will call her Lydia the tattooed4 lady. Obviously she had no idea what I was talking about, so I said look it up. The Marx brothers comedy and vaudeville is something we never see anyone. Groucho stated that if you had to be foul mouthed or swear then you missed the whole point of being comedic. Innuendo, witty and dry remarks and making something from seemingly nothing. The Night at the Opera cabin scene had me in stitches for ages and I still quote some of the sayings to this day. Is my Aunt Jenny in there. No, but I am sure you will find someone just as good. That table is set for four. That's nothing, my alarm clock is set for eight, and so on. Clever without being rude, innuendo and dry sarcasm all rolled into one. Vale Groucho, Chicko, Zepoo and Harpo. Cant remember if there is a fifth.

He started out as a singer with gummo and harpo. “Julius had a pleasant soprano voice and the ability to remain on key” his mother once quoted. During there act harpo would crack jokes and the audience liked it better than the singing.
