He boosted both amps, rendering this video useless for a stand alone amp comparison. You guys need to drop the crutches, aka boosts. Used to be cool, now everyone and their grandma does it.
A boost isn't a crutch. It's a useful tool. A boosted SLO is still an SLO. It's quite helpful to hear how an amp will take a boost. Some amps get muddy and congested. Obviously, these amps retain articulation, and in the case of the SLO, adds a lil grrr to the thickness. Oh, and the only boost my gramma used had nothing to do with guitar.
If you're doing nothing but kiddie, bubble gum low E riding...what do you expect? Killer leads and someone that knows how to play and use the guitar volume like it's supposed to be used? Not everyone with a few amps and a camera can play bud. Nothing wrong with boosts IF you know how to use them. This much boost and gain is not doing anything for any amp. The dynamics are long gone and you basically have a compressor pedal doing a lot for you.
