It's funny, because even though the song itself cries out in rage against the pervasiveness of pop culture and of those who claim to be "hardcore" to mold their public image, the song's existence itself is also just another brick in a growing wall of empty cries. The artist calls for an outlet, as we're all ticking timebombs of rage, but art itself cannot bring forth the change we scream for in media. If we were to create the true outlet for our outrage it wouldn't be in a song or an anthem of the masses. It would be in blood and silent flames.

Shoot... this song really hit me. I never really wanted to completely diss and insult modern pop culture - I mean, like what you want - but I have to admit some of these lyrics reflect thoughts that I have and never really recognized clearly. Sometimes it really does seem like the entire world is constantly trying to get me to think that "good" is equal to "happy" and "extroverted" and "cool", and neglecting the fact that everything else - anger, sadness, introversion, etc. - is completely natural. I hate that we have to feel ashamed for who we are or what we feel and have to repress feelings and personality just to fit in. To be "good". I don't want to claim that everything I'm saying is true... I still have a lot to learn and I've barely experienced everything. But sometimes I really doubt the messages that the people around me are trying to send. Super excited to see what else the new album holds - I need to keep getting new pairs of socks because they keep getting blown off!
