January 29, 2019
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte led the groundbreaking ceremony of the new site of the San Lorenzo Ruiz General Hospital (SLRGH) at Barangay Panghulo in Malabon City.
In his keynote address, President Duterte reiterated the administration’s commitment to enhance and strengthen the operational capabilities of government hospitals to provide the health care and medical needs of the Filipinos, particularly the poor and the marginalized.
“It is my pleasure to be with you today as we lay the groundwork for a project that will soon serve not only the people of Malabon, but also patients coming from adjoining areas such as CAMANAVA (Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela) and Bulacan,” he said.
The establishment of the SLRGH is an initiative of the Malabon City local government in partnership with the Department of Health (DOH) under Secretary Francisco Duque III and the Senate of the Philippines through the Committee on Health and Demography chaired by Senator Joseph Victor ‘JV’ Ejercito.
Once completed, the hospital shall have a capacity of 200 beds with new health equipment and facilities capable of dialysis, cardio treatment, and dental services, among others.
“The expansion of this facility from a 10-bed capacity San Lazaro Ruiz Women’s Hospital to a 200-bed capacity general hospital is truly a promising development,” President Duterte continued.
He also called on all the doctors and allied medical professionals present to remain steadfast and continue providing accurate and responsive medical care to the Filipino people.
“Together let us make the Philippines a better nation,” the President ended.
