I think Iran should be very worried because the US just lifted its ban on arm sales to the Saudis. This is big and may mean that a major arab country would support Israel and the US if Iran makes a mistake. Iran has not done anything as of yet because they are conflicted. They are in a no-win situation and should not have made a host of child-like schoolyard boasts about revenge attacks. Iran is more embarrassed about their security lapse than they are concerned about Haniyeh being killed. But it's not worth starting a major conflict with Israel over the death of one terrorist. Israel publicly announced Hainyeh was fair game outside of Qatar after October 7. Iran is just basically less than competent in terms of its military and security- that's evident over the years. Their economy is in shambles. If they over-react and even 1 missile hits Tel Aviv then Israel is going to go ballistic. One could say Israel is even goading Iran to strike. Israel has been planning to finish off Iran for at least 15 years - you can imagine the detailed planning and major assets ready to go. Plus, Israel is now backed by a US Carrier Strike Group and a F-22 Raptor squadrons all controlled by US CENTCOM. Iran needs to just take the loss. Do some theatrical and token response - claim a win through propaganda, and worry about its own internal problems. They're not only messing with Israel but most other gulf Arab states would not shed any tears if Iran gets pummeled. Worse for Iran, no matter what happens in a conflict, they'd then be faced with literally billions of dollars in repair costs - money they do not have. This could collapse Iranian society and threaten the regime itself - and the mullahs know this. Their so-called ally, Russia, has enough to deal with in Ukraine and hardly wants their own resources drained by Iran's pointless misadventures. Lastly, these awful situations, frequently occurring because of impulsive emotions and not well thought out strategy, lead to greater conflict. Hezbollah knows that once the shooting starts southern Lebanon is going to be turned into an ash-filled parking lot by Israel and the US and their power threatened. The public has a short memory - Iran should stop worrying about how they come off and look and forget about it. It would save lots of lives, too!

Iran's revenge operation will have a beneficial talk on the ceasefire, as it may knock some sense into Israel who is the main obstacle to a ceasefire deal. It could demonstrate to Israel that war is not a viable option.
