Group Dynamics: How do we form a sense of identity? 

This is the third lecture in a series of senior level undergraduate lectures on group dynamics that I created and have been teaching for many years. This lecture takes a deep dive into the factors that go into the creation of our sense of identity. We all have personal identities that we use to describe our traits and our qualities but our identities are also intricately tied to the groups that we are a part of. We'll explore individualism and collectivism and show that all of us exhibit traits of both depending on the circumstance. We'll look at how we lose portions of our personal identity when we join meaningful groups and how we adopt the values and goals of the group as replacements for those traits that we lost.
