Nice trick! I knew you could do grouping for categories, but I didn't know if there are no categories (as shown) this could be done.

You did all this manually, but if you have 5000 records, can you do this using a function? I wonder how this can be coded into the pivot table. Thanks

I did this but new groups appear in the same column like tree structure but not appearing in a new column as shown. What am I missing?

I keep getting this message: "We couldn't complete the action for the PivotTable "PivotTable22" in the sheet "Bacc & Post" because there's already a PivotTable "PivotTable1" there. Make space and try again." Any suggestions? I'm using a Mac.
