A group of surviving “Rosie the Riveters,” women who put their lives on hold to build bombers and tanks that helped win World War II, were honored today in Washington. NBC News’ Andrea Mitchell shares more about the Honor Flight for the group.

My grandmother was a Rosie the riveter. She was a butt welder. And these awesome women would know exactly what she did. My grandfather built tanks. They were my favorite people on the planet.

My Mom was a Rosie the Riveter. She passed away October 2020 at age 98! Thank you Madea, we miss you!❤👑

These woman are hero’s as much as us veterans. They made the machines to fight in the war! With out their helps it would have been almost impossible! Thank you ladies! We are all honored to call you Americans and hero’s to not only America, but the world!

These women are awesome. The debt of gratitude that we owe to these ladies probably cannot be paid in full. My mom was a WAC,..and cooked for the guys... I'm so proud of her and what she did for the country... May her sweet soul rest in peace.... And may these other ladies get all the love and respect that they deserve.. My grandmother would be in this group if she didn't die of cancer from the factories. But my uncle did win us the pacific theater with 8 aces!

Both of my grandmothers and most of their sisters were Rossie the Riveters. We would not have won the war without them.

The riveters are great.. but we can't forget the welders that built the liberty ships also.. i grew up around several women that worked the Brunswick yard.. my gf's grandmother was one of them.. and remembering the suffragettes is something every free thinking female should celebrate.. some of those women laid down their lives for you to have equal rights.. shouldn't have taken all that but those were different times.. we can't forget that stuff man..
