More video footage taken during Monday night's riots shows a group of men attacking a police officer before a police dog unit pushes rioters back. A rare night of violence broke out in Plymouth city centre on Monday night (August 5) as a far-right, anti-immigrant group clashed with riot police and counter protesters, following in the wake of similar disorders across the country at the weekend.
The far-right group clashed with officers and counter protesters through Monday night, with police dogs, a drone and riot police deployed in a bid to keep what was initially supposed to be a protest peaceful. However, the situation turned to violence as the night wore on, resulting in several police officers sustaining injuries and two members of the public being taken to Derriford Hospital.
Footage captured outside St Andrews Church on St Andrew Street shows a line of officers met with jeers and taunting before one member of the group - wearing a dark hoodie - appears to jump from behind an officer onto them before running off down the road. The jump instantly draws a crowd and more officers can be seen running down the street to push back against the fresh wave of violence.
